I don't feel bad about it. Christian teachers cannot pray in public view at afterschool events. Religious expression is as deeply integral to their identities as any sexuality, but they get muzzled when they take the government check, and the state goes above and beyond to punish them for acknowledging their religion, past the basic "don't make it part of the curriculum" thing that most of the anti-grooming bills are asking for. They just don't want to be held to their own standards.

He's an establishment Republican. He's been making the moves he has because FL governor is a precarious position, and generally speaking doing things that are popular will net you votes and support. But if he didn't have that pressure there's no reason to believe he'd be any less of a RINO than the ones in secure seats.

I have a sneaking suspicion that a number of senior Democrats are tired of NARAL's abortion extremism. It's become a political albatross around their necks. Being seen as the party who's okay with a grown man taking a 14-year-old girl to another state to have her baby's skull vacuumed out five days before the due date only hurts them with a large demographic, Hispanics, they are starting to lose. Banning abortion isn't popular, but neither is letting a 15-year-old girl bleed out in the filthy dungeon of a psycho who keeps baby corpses in jars. If the SCOTUS kicks abortion back to the states, it relieves the Democrats on the national level of having to symbolically kowtow to their most extreme elements in return for their donations. Republicans already play this game, doing nothing whatsoever on the national stage while state-level regulation of abortion varies by how red the state really is.
