Since Watame's birthday is coming up, I wouldn't be a good Watamate if I didn't do my due diligence and suggest that if you're a fan of hers and are part of her Fan Discord/Watame Club to participate in the community event they're doing. They could use some more submissions. If it was something like last year where you had to record yourself singing part of Ai-Mai Chocolate and saying happy birthday I wouldn't mention it, but it's just writing a little something this time around.

It's more likely that the nodules have arisen from a combination of her shouting and long streaming hours. Not everyone is built the same. Korone, Hayama, and Lulu did what Pekora does and have not yet developed a throat issue, but unfortunately Pekora has reached her threshold (and likely pushed past it) and has to be careful now.

They can also arise from a single instance of intense vocal usage, which includes concerts or even horror game streams.
Def the shouting and screaming during long streams do not help. It's also not to say long hours of streaming can't develop anything other than throat issues. I remember Korone having to take a break for health reasons and it may or may not have had to do with how seditentary the job can be. That or like the ADHD Doggo she is, her mortal flesh couldn't take the strain of her energy.

I also wouldn't be surprised if diet and environment played a part. You'd be surprised what irritates your throat and by extent vocal chords. Too much salt, oil, spice, drinks or food that are too hot or cold temp wise, fizzy drinks, snacks that either turn into glass shards or sawdust (not tastewise but texture after you chew), etc etc. Air in the room too dry? Too humid? Hope you're a nose breather. I highly doubt smoking is a thing but maybe vaping (you never know when your oshi is a nicotine addict) or maybe family members and their social circles have smokers. Let's not forget allergens, industrial smog (I doubt any talents are living next to industrial machinery but you never know), and any other Vtuber activities they do that may or may not include more shouting, screaming, or talking outside of their usual streaming schedules.

As the Mechanicus would say, "The flesh is weak but the Machine is strong"

In regards to the throat nodule issue, I hope this is something that gets fixed for her quickly and doesn't become a recurring issue. Even if it doesn't feel like it, you can strain your vocal chords just by speaking for too long. So I hope she starts to take it easy from now on, because this is no joke. I know a guy that went his entire life singing for a living, then developed those nodules in his later years, got them fixed, but they kept coming back. After just a few years of dealing with them he could no longer speak above a whisper. I'm glad Pekora is going to the doctor, and I hope all the girls that are dealing with this treats it with the appropriate amount of seriousness while not letting it get them down too much.

I unironically enjoy that song until Belle Delphine opens her mouth.
Her mouth is good for one thing, and it certainly ain't for speaking. At least a great Sena song came from it though.

Now there are TWO male voices on Towa's stream?! How will Laplus ever recover? Seriously though, it will always warm my heart to see Towa having fun. It's amazing how far things have come since the initial retardation around her.

EDIT:
Come watch the cutest daisenpai and celebrate her birthday with various call-in guests.

I was in a Discord call with some friends while we made a dumb tier list the other day. I spoke quite a lot and I believe the call lasted a little over 4 hours. When I woke up, my voice was a little hoarse and dry but it thankfully recovered as the day wore on.

V-Tubers do this at least 4 days a week, and some of those days may be double streams or extra long sessions. They then record covers, do anime episodes, perform live which takes hours of rehearsal etc. Without proper care, they are essentially torpedoing their own health for the sake of the job, and I'm not convinced that the people who don't already have an acting/singing background prior to joining know how to take care of their voice.

Enna has a little ritual thing she does at the end of each day to keep her voice in check, and she's taking a month off to make sure it's protected. She's also been singing her whole life. On the flip side, Warabeda Meiji has recently made the decision that she can no longer continue her activities with her throat issues as they are.

Pekora, Marine, Kanata, Aki etc are on their own to identify these issues and sort them out. There's no one wrapping them in cotton wool and ensuring their health is maintained but themselves (at least based on how they all described the process of learning of their issues and going to the Doctor's). They're just people too, and this is very serious in regards to their activity.

Ghostly singing (unarchived).

It would be a good idea for agency to have mandatory health checkup for every 3 month or so.
I mean that would be great but we're talking about corpos. Idk any corpo (and I mean any kind of industry, not just vtuber/idol/entertainment) that would do mandatory health checkups without it being some kind of regulation or industry standard. The best the talents can do is like what @Scuttle said, identify what the issues are and pick a solution. Suisei recognized that her juice drinking was okay, but the acidity of OJ (it was OJ right?) wasn't doing much good for her and apple juice was a better choice. It's gonna be shit like that.

And sometimes, its just the shitty roll of genetics. Stream and sing for hours and hours? No problem. Have an extra small side of fries? Time for the oil and salt to destroy everything in your vocal chords. And vice versa.

EDIT:
Well, that and she had to completely drop her voice, yeah.

Didn't she also recently say that she can't sing more than a few songs at once without her voice starting to feel weird, or do I have my wires crossed on that one?
totally blanked out on Suisei dropping her voice too. Eventually it just becomes natural that you forget how they all previously used to sound. Could be thinking of IRyS since someone just mentioned how her songs make it tough on her voice.

I currently have permanent vocal cord damage myself and this is very true. It's also good to note that underlying conditions can also cause throat issues that aren't exclusively caused by overuse like gastrointestinal disorders, too much acidity (acid reflux), and genetic disorders. Overusing your voice when you have these conditions do make it a lot worse though. But, hopefully they find the reason for the polyps so it can be worked on immediately because at the end of the day, no matter how much you rest and be careful with overuse, if you don't stop the cause at the root it's only gonna get worse even if all you do is just simple talking.

Hoping hololive provides health assistance to the girls, especially for voice related problems since a lot of them have gone through it over the years.

just caught Subaru's call in. I feel like she could be the only talent to have her voice literally die and it wouldn't change how her character sounds and is perceived :story:

EDIT: I stand corrected. Subaru sounds more femine when her throat is shot :story:

Soulniggers are starting to bother Ame with the "get mimic tear" spam, like holy shit you retards, you're only going to get her to NOT get it out of sheer spite. Besides, it's not like it's gonna be useful since she doesn't level the ashes up, and her set-up is so autistic only she can make sense out of it, the Tear will probably run to a corner and spam the Envoy horn doot to welcome the release of Destined Death.

She's now suffering the Crucible Knight and Ordovis dual boss again.
Soulnigger chiming in, the ones spamming are still consistently retarded but it's fun watching her mock them. With the mimic nerf, and her what the fuck playstyle, she'd get much better usage out of black knife tiche for damage or the skeletal militiaman for distraction since they can revive.
Her Bad Copypasta Rap had 23 million views. I think the only Holo who can actually beat that viewcount is IRYs, whose Ren'ai Circulation cover had over 100 million, but that's not a rap.
It doesn't have a huge amount of views (compared to the two mentioned) but Kronii also did this as Dottovu:
In IRyS' case, I think the singing portion is actually fucking up her voice and her speaking voice is just her normal one. She always talks about how her songs are hard to sing. Which makes sense because they give her these absurd Vocaloid-esque songs. The dumb English lyrics probably don't help either. Just super-awkward and crammed as tightly as possible with absolutely zero flow.
I wish they'd give her a proper song writer. I really enjoy IRyS as a streamer in general and her singing is exceptional but they seem to have set her up to fail, not that it's stopped her, by giving largely shit songs. Give her something good like Moona's original for Christ's sake. Controversial take: I also really like her model even if it kinda looks like a claymation.

Edit:
So there's this place on the internet called Kiwi Farms, but it's not named after the fruit but these weird little bird things you find somewhere in New Zealand or some shit.
The farms is named after the Chirs Chan wiki CWCki isn't it? Kind of like Metokur being some retard saying mediocre.

I forget sometimes sites have tracking of where traffic comes from.... Her channel is small enough that her cover likely had a significant increase in views from here.

Someone probably should tell her and her endearing levels of English what sort of place this is, gently, preferably in fluent JP so she understands. No need to scare her, but I'd hate for her to start browsing here then see something traumatizing, or have some sort of association negatively affect her or her relationship with her fans.
If you're reading this I ate out your oshi.jpg
So there's this place on the internet called Kiwi Farms, but it's not named after the fruit but these weird little bird things you find somewhere in New Zealand or some shit. Well anyway, it's a forum where people talk about interesting topics around the internet, such as Lowcows and drama. Now, a Lowcow is a person who does exceptional things on the internet where they're often the butt of a joke. One of the more notable ones was this dude that created his own sonic/pokemon OC that caused a rift in our dimension to cause a dimensional merge. Well, uh we don't talk about him much anymore after what he did to hi- Well uh anyway, they also talk about communities on the internet too! One being vtubing that has it's own thread that's over 5K PAGES of discussion about Waifus, doomposting, getting past the mods with thirst posts, fighting about who's Oshi is better, and wanting to fix this one babe that's kinda autistic. I forgot her name but she's like this human/rabbit hybrid that has pink hair, she's really cool though you gotta watch her somet- Hey! WAIT! Where are you going?!

I wait daily for the news that Koyori goes on hiatus due to voice problems. She pitches her voice so high and streams 150 h every month since her debut. She finished her 600k endurance singing stream after 5.5 hours. Just look at this set list, pure madness and cords of steel

Check out this new episode of Holo Monogatari Series with some top notch edits

Let's see. Subaru as Javert is easy, also Polka and Watame as the Thenardiers. Maybe Pekora as Jean Valjean and Moona as Fantine? Botan could also fit Jean Valjean for different reasons. And Laplus as Cossette. Drawing a total blank on Enjolras. (Going by character here not singing ability, obv)

EDIT: @Diya 's question "What's an idol?" turns out to be one of those inkblot questions. When you answer it you reveal something about yourself.
Late but Ame would be Enjorlas with the meme of her possibly being a libertarian and all. She also once sang Do You Hear the People Sing in a karaoke stream. Would fit her best.
