A behavior of lefties I've noticed since I was young: they get handed or inherit something that was in good shape, worked, and could last, but they fuck it all up somehow. I knew a lot of hippie-like teenagers who would get a nice used Volvo 240 from their parents and proceed to ruin it by never cleaning it, abusing it, and never changing the conventional oil. Not really sure if they thought it would just last forever and were ignorant of responsibility or just flat out didn't give a shit.

I see that all day with the current administration. They were given good tools and have wrecked it all. If recruitment numbers weren't so low for the military, I'd wager that we would've been putting troops in Europe by now, but they ruined the military in record time. It's the best, most capable fighting force on the face of the planet, but it won't stay that way without the right people keeping it that way. Again, they think just because it was nice when they got it that it'll stay nice because magic or something.

Reagan confessed to the Iran-Contra affair, and that didn't seem to hurt him too much in the end, but as far as I'm concerned, this was a relatively minor affair. It did not, so far as I'm aware, claim any American lives nor did it waste a ridiculous amount of the taxpayers dollars which could be why the general public were willing to let it slide.

I don't think that would work for Biden at all.

1) First, because it would cause a rift not just within the White House itself (i.e. all the talk about cliques people here have been speculating about) but with the Left in general who don't want to accept any blame since that would be seen as a sign of weakness.

2) Second, Biden, as with pretty much all things, would manage to screw up any kind of conciliatory approach. Who would want to believe, never mind forgive, him anyway especially when either he or his staff routinely contradict themselves?

3) His faults are simply too dang big to admit guilt to and as @Meat Target said, it would immediately invite investigations assuming the regime actually wanted to come clean. If you thought the Hunter Biden laptop mess was bad, this would be worse (hek it would probably re-open that nonsense as well).

I see this administration with a crippling lack of leadership or direction. The White House can get whatever talent it wants to but if there is no one at the top making smart decisions and delegating tasks to the right people, it becomes a dysfunctional clusterfuck. You get all these departments fighting with each other and bad decisions get made and effectiveness drops to near zero. I believe that staffers and aides are mainly running the day-to-day tasks and Joe is just a figurehead being propped up. He has to have handlers around at any event and I get the perception that the tail is wagging the dog. All these department heads are telling Joe what to do and he can't make a competent decision, so someone else makes it for him and by the time it gets out in the public, it hits the wrong tone, or was the wrong thing to say. They can't even shift blame in the right direction with the "MAGA King" excuse along with other issues.

In about 5-10 years after his term ends, I expect a few books to come out saying all the above about how dire the situation in the Biden Admin. really was.

Whereas in the US, we spent a ton of money to make a pen that could write in space because graphite in a pencil can catch a spark and cause a fire, all to save the lives of our astronauts. Our astronauts thank us while complete morons go “Russia uses a pencil instead because actual genius through simplicity! Americans always over-engineer stuff cause NERDS!! lol!”

My points here are that they made a massive mistake that should never be forgiven or downplayed and that the cost of true talent and skill for the sake of “advancement“ is more proof that socialists only hold contempt for the lives of the people that serve under them. It also proves that anyone with talent has their days numbered under socialism, some pencil pushing dipshit either through accident of design WILL find a way to ruin/kill you.

Each side of the issue always goes too far when they propose legislation, knowing the other side will nuke it. There's too much money to be made for the two sides to ever come to a logical, compassionate solution. So basically you have prolife and prochoice making money and politicking off killing babies, and it will never, ever, end. Not without a miracle.

The bill was killed because the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission teamed up with Planned Parenthood and lobbied against it.

This absolute cuck of an organization, the ERLC, will be defunded soon if the Southern Baptist Convention accomplishes its planned cleanse when a new president is elected. The ERLC is an arm of the SBC and was formed to advocate for religious liberty and human rights in the public square, but it has been run with an increasingly worldly lens instead of championing consistent biblical ethics. The reason for their opposition is that the law considers anyone who obtains an abortion culpable of the crime, not just the doctors who perform them. The ERLC wants to see women as pure victims of the abortion industry, and while I certainly think Planned Parenthood is exploitative, I don't think it serves anyone to see women as incapable of seeing the human cost of abortion. Yes, they've been propagandized to see it as a harmless medical intervention, but there's a lot of sick shit governments and organizations push that require willing customers to sign on. And while you cannot legislate morality, a principle role of government is to preserve innocent life and establish justice to the best of its ability. You can advocate against abortion from a secular lens, and you can, as a Christian, push for anti-abortion laws without apologizing for "imposing" your beliefs on anyone. You are simply asking the government to fulfill its role consistently.

tl;dr There are elite Christian leaders who are trying to soft-pedal the likely end of Roe and would rather forge a compromise in the hopes that libs will like them instead of being consistent with their stated pro-life positions. They want to say they are arguing tactics, but throwing their weight in with abortionists is inexcusable when they could have let the bill fail or succeed on its own merits. Hopefully they will be defunded.

To add to this, Russia only built its first industrial TP factory in... 1969. They had made massive strives in science and engineering... but actually providing for the people? NOPE.

I don't have my sources handy but when the Russians shot down Gary Powers, they fired off so many SA2's that they emptied the entire air corridor he was flying in to do it, those things take a long time to re-load. They also shot down an assload of their own fighters (no IFF, just blips) trying to get him, plus more would go out of control trying to reach his altitude. If the US had been using Powers' aircraft as a pathfinder, and flown in B52's behind him, they could have decapitated the Russian government right then, that day. And, in the same vein, if the US had known about the crash, which was effectively a decapitation strike own goal, the US could've sunk every ship in the Soviet Pacific fleet without repercussion (assuming they were starting WW3).
