Grade 8 include ages 13-14. 2017 was five years ago, which would make the Gendron mentioned in the articles 18 years old today. In addition, he mentions that he lived in the Southern Tier region of NY all his life, which includes the Susquehanna School District:

The Discord logs are like the manifesto but even more autistic, if that's possible. Lots of selfies and random comments about his life. He dropped out of college, but hid it from his parents by driving to campus every day. He repeatedly set a date for his attack, only to change his mind; he probably only did it now because he can't maintain the lie after the semester ends.
