yes they have. If you check any gun-based blog or forum the replies gravitate between "this was all some glowy hoax, alex jones gay frogs" and "fuck, if I was there I sure would want to have a gun and a chance"

the latter of which is pretty reasonable.

Not really. "Upstate" NY is a different animal than NYC. It depends on the county but it's generally just a pain in the dick to get a license to own and carry a firearm (edit: pistol in non-legalese. Shotguns and rifles can be bought without a 'license' though they still require a background check). There are restrictions on what people can own. Any magazine that can hold more than 10 cartridges is disallowed (with exceptions... think lever action .22) although that is easily bypassed by buying out of state. Also there is a ban on 'assault weapons' which did fuck all, as usual, since it's based on nothing practical.

That's probably why he had the words "no muzzle device" written on the end of his AR. Although he could have just put one on there, it's not like he was intent on being a lawful citizen.

I also wanna add that THEY DO go after Politicians. And America is one of the richest countries when it comes to assassinations, 4 Presidents were murdered and to my knowledge there's been at least one serious assassination attempt on each modern President, last one that almost pulled it off was Hinkley.

The difference is that the Secret Service/Hired Security pay retired cops/military good money to watch their ass. After that schizo shot Gabby Giffords even Representatives have teams watching them.

Fun Fact: Hinkley got off and now makes videos for Youtube. And they say the US Government is relentlessly cruel.
