Medieval peasants actually had a surprisingly good quality of life. A lot of social conventions since then besides religion and how we see women haven't really changed since then. The real hell was living through the industrial revolution.

I honestly can't suss out what exactly you're arguing for or against here. I agree that the noble savage myth is dumb and I really think people should be educated on what a lot of the native tribes got up to.

But I heavily disagree that it's a racist idea to wish to preserve culture. I think having a sense of cultural belonging is very important and that the rootless recent generations are coping with this lack via latching onto crazier and crazier ideologies as a mean to make them feel like they have a grounded place in the world.

And while culture certainly isn't static I wouldn't call the modern day transition of culture into globohomo nothingness a natural one, nor a good one.

Calm down. I didn't suggest he was justified or that he was some kind of fed or plant. I'm just totally desensitized to violence like this. It's terrible that this shit happens, but it's common as fuck. The killing, anyway. Everyone is just getting hot under the collar over this due to the visibility, framing, and political implications. The more you let it bother you, the closer you get to buying a GoPro helmet mount.
