I went camping with a bunch of my friends this weekend, and if you thought my post history was a bit too biased, they're even worse.
Point is, none of them had any hope for the future of this country, and the only thing they decided to talk about was not how to fix the situation, but how to survive the collapse.
I don't need to tell you how depressing of a realization that is.

Just curious, where do those friends generally fall on the political spectrum? I'm assuming they're not neolibs or neocons since they are capable of recognizing that the status quo is fucked.

I don't see how this has any impact on the midterms unless republicans do something stupid. Gun control is dead and all the race baiting will do is harden the bases. A summer of riots that furthers the supply chain issues during economic woe is not going to go over well. I fully expect motorists to take full advantage of the new laws in place when a white bitch is making them waste $5+ a gallon gas they can barely afford.

It won't influence the election. George Floyd had such an effect on political thinking in the country because everyone was stuck inside, glued to their TVs and the Covid money kept their basic needs met. They were physically secure but mentally unbalanced, the perfect setup for a new idea to catch fire.

Now the lockdown vacation is over and everyone's daily life is going to hell. Mass shootings are routine by this point and the best rebuttal to anyone crying about the evil white mass murderer is to point out how fast the Waukesha killing got memory-holed. People don't have time to get worked up about another something bad happening to people far away when they can't buy gas or baby formula.
