In addition to my previous comment, ALMOST all of Australia’s media outlets (small independent ones exist but EVERY major Australian publication is owned by this guy!) are funded by this fucking giant by the name of Rupert Murdoc and this guy also has a large amount of seats within the liberal party. This man is the reason there is still fear because of Covid, because you don’t hear about these events of net neutrality being passed because of how FUCKING much control of the public this guy has, it’s actually fucking wild. If someone says something bad against one of these moguls then they will have the ability to brute force their way into your account and make alterations. That is fucked, and they are even introducing the ability to sue people over hate speech. For example if I post on here “I hate infamousbeing”, if infamousbeing was Australian and I too was Australian then I could go to court. Australia banned 4chan in a similar way in 2016 or 18 I don’t remember but these new laws are going to fucking change the whole prospect of cyber bullying and the consequences behind that. I bet these companies are just going to get fucking sick of the chlamydia carrying country and pull out, because keep in mind Australia’s population is fucking tiny compared to the world.

Also fuel pricing at 2.69L… fucking there goes an hour of labour just getting to work.

I’m going to attach this video by a youtuber by the name of FriendlyJordies who was recently sued by the NSW premiere, who blows the lid on the corruption. This is where most teens-30 year olds have started getting their news from and it’s fucking good. I know you Americans won’t have much appeal on watching the above video but man, if you’re Aussie and don’t know this guy (get your fucking ass off here and go back to watching a current affair with your grandma) then fucking watch. You’re entering the darkest time and are in the most financial debt in the history of the country.

I guess we’ll see what happens with this lawsuit that happens between GOOGLE v AUS GOVERNMENT.

You have no idea how retarded politics have been in Australia for decades. They play it up, because it lets them go "whoopsie I'm retarded" when called out on the widespread unveiled corruption and it feeds into public apathy because nobody wants to think about the eternal clown show.

And IIRC there was some really vaguely worded laws floated not too long ago that strip privacy protections based on extremely loose guilt by association so it could even have something to do with that, I dunno if they passed though.

Don't call me Australian but it's just authoritarianism via infantilisation and projected guilt. The convict thing is usually a meme but it might actually go all the way back to that. There's a heavy focus on making sure people walk around with their heads down thinking they've done something wrong at any given moment.
I think that's part of why you hear so much about them trying to ban dumb shit: a lot of it doesn't have a chance of actually making it into law but you don't hear about that, so the net effect is a perpetual sense of everything being illegal.

There's an election in three days and the conservative government already looks like it's going to eat massive shit and has embarrassed itself trying to use an anti-terror police force to arrest and bully a youtube critic, so now they have to at least make a token effort to go after footage of the Buffalo shooting so they can say "look our anti-terror resources are also trying to censor actual terrorist material and not just harass that autistic guy that keeps calling us shit cunts on youtube".

Nothing will come of this, it's just politicians flailing desperately on their way out.
