Now my theory is that he would come to blame his anxiety on being trans. And that being transgender has alleviated his anxiety for now. That is because he has gotten rid of his perceived source of anxiety he has become fixated on ( penis) and gets dopamine from working toward his goal. It is also in part due to his newfound purpose as a trans activist and the deference people have to give him now that he is a protected class ( or in some cases people may pity or fear him, so will tend to go along with what he says). This gives him a shield in social situations , and if anyone doesn't like him, he has the ready made excuse that it is because he is trans.

Unfortunately people with anxiety can in some cases fixate or obsess about certain things, which they incorrectly think is the cause of their anxiety when it is the anxiety or obsessive tendency finding targets.

This is one of the worst reasons to troon because this always, ALWAYS comes back to bite you in the ass. Once you realize you were anxious because your brain is wired to fixate on things, you start realizing later on that huh, trooning didn't cure what I feel. Nothing has. I'm still anxious about being myself and a troon. What if I never was a troon? What if I am but there's no surgery to ever cure me?

And it spirals from there. They're one of the most depressing trans types in my mind, I've seen more anxious girls and guys with promising futures go through them than I'd like. Tony's a dick before and after (and more of a douchebag cultist now) so I have less sympathy for him.

I too advocate for therapy and also a support group: therapy to make damn sure it isn't general dissociation or other life problems like sexual assault trauma, and a support group for a hobby instead of immediate lgbt+ confirmation. A hobby makes sure that you have things to talk about with others and lets you touch grass. It might even ease anxiety mistaken for dysphoria.
