Forgive me for saying such blasphemy... but my dive down the rabbithole began when I watched Pink Cat's Out of Context series on her Youtube channel. It was October 2020 and the Coof was just getting started here in our country. I was there when they were still indies. I didn't watch any stream but instead watched various video clips of Nyanners, Ironmouse, and Melody. I was also there when Lele Ch. was just starting out as random advertisements on YouTube.
I saw the day when Vshojo was formed after falling off and missing a lot of Vtuber content. I was already in the scene at this time per se. This was around December 2020. I also saw the day when Froot debuted. Around the time I also discovered PH Vtubers. I think Kaheru was the first PH Vtuber I checked out but my memory is a bit hazy. Also I was beginning to discover the glory that was Hololive. And it started with that goddamn Pekora laugh. I also started watching HoloGra near the end of the year. And then I discovered Lyrica. Also I actually got to tune into one of Coco's unarchived karaoke streams.
By January 2021 I was heavily indulged in Hololive. Even though I mostly watch clips. I'd tune in to some indie streams here and there (mostly Kaheru in particular) but I'd mostly be surfing thru Hololive content. Found out Lyrica was close to Hololive ID Gen 1. And people were starting to shit on Lele. I was also starting to get around Nijisanji. Starting with Hana Macchia. Although I didn't stick around for too long. I remember I used to watch Coco's Shitposting Reviews. Also found Veibae. And found out that Hime Hajime is actually Sydsnap.
I remember I watched Botan's 3d debut but I missed most of it. Mostly because of my shitty internet at the time. I also found out that Hero Hei was actually a faggot. At the time the Hero Hei and Kani Kanizawa drama was blowing up too. Nux just debuted his L2D avatar. And Poka (le infamous "Hololive Doxxer") was still a prominent faggot at this time. It was around this time that I eventually stumbled upon this forum. Funnily enough, I stumbled on this forum because I was searching up
this guy. After a while, I found myself surfing through all of the pages.
I remember reading hundreds of pages each night just to catch up with what happened since the inception of this thread. I also found out how massive of a simp Lyrica was to Moona. Initially my opinions of this forum and this thread fell in line more with "wtf is this shit" until I eventually came around to realize that... hell yeah
this place is actually great! Ah and I also saw the glorious day when Calli managed to piss off a lot of VTwatters. I was there when Holo Bass still hasn't run himself down to the ground. Also tuned into Kaheru's stream every now and then. I was there when she was close to getting 100k. And Lele was trying to rebrand. This was around February 2021.
Oh by the way, did you know that Depressed Nousagi used to draw fanart for his oshis? He rebranded his art account into what it is now. I was there when the Lele drama blew up. Was able to tune in into one of Lyrica's many collab streams with Hololive ID. Was also starting to tune in into Lyrica's streams more often. This was around March 2021. I remember that I missed Nene's 3d debut. Also found out that one of the PH Twitter artists I followed suddenly decided to become a Vtuber on a whim. Found BenjyVR on April 2021. Lyrica got a RAID: Shadow Legends sponsorship on May 2021. I was starting to get involved in her community even though I usually just sit on the fence and not involve myself in any fan community back then.
June 2021 Kaheru did a collab with a Filipino Meatcanyon (Super Bayani). I also discovered Yaxi Lotte. Yknow, the vtuber who did a trollolol graduation which was actually a rebranding. I was now heavily involved in Vtuber communities, mostly in Lyrica's server. On July 2021 Lyrica's community held their first anniversary. August 2021 Lyrica did a charity stream. On the same month it was announced that Lyrica will graduate on September. Shannon followed suit and graduated earlier than Lyrica. After Lyrica graduated... I slowly drifted. On October 2021 a new Nijisanji wave came and it hasn't been the same since. Not that it was a terrible thing. I'm quite proud of Lyrica and Shannon for making it into one of the biggest corpos in the Vtuber sphere. It's just that a lot of things happened and I fell off. Again.
Fast forward to Februrary 2022 I made this account and dropped my first post after lurking for so long. And here we are now. I haven't been watching Vtubers a lot and I rarely tune in to any streams. Although I discovered new ones, especially the thread's darling Pippa, watching Vtubers seemingly fell out of priority. And at most, I'd only be watching clips. So yeah. I didn't even know I've been following the Vtuber scene for about 2 years until now after recollecting a lot of good memories. And that wraps it up for my TED Talk on how I got into this wonderful rabbithole.
