TGWTG Linkara / Lewis Lovhaug - HMMMMMMM? (Dead Gay Muppet Gangbang)

Lewis has no opinion other than what the groupthink in his area is.

Aside from, again, being the world’s only Danny Chase stan. It’s not even that it’s a creepy or super stupid opinion to have, I’m just curious what else is going on in there. It’s like if someone’s favourite series was Comet Man, a Marvel limited series co-created by the guy who played Will in Lost in Space. It’s actually not a bad series, but I would be very curious why someone would call it their favourite ever, you understand?

Linkara is the opposite of "he don't miss."

So, Linkara is currently on Team Four Star's stream: https://www.twitch.tv/streamfourstar

They're playing Rifftrax... and.. fuck me. It's just so boring. It's Linkara, Team Four Star, Little Kuriboh and another name or two I don't recognise (edit: I believe they are viewers actually). They have fluctuated between 150-170 viewers. It's painful to watch. I've been watching for about 15 minutes, none of their riffs have made me laugh, nothing has been even close to funny. They sit there for a minute straight in total silence as they awkwardly type in their answers, then sit and wait in total silence as their answers are read out, having a slight snigger occasionally.

It's almost like people who have to heavily script and take months to produce any amount of "quality" content aren't great at adlibs riffing on random scenes from movies they haven't seen before.

Imagine that at some point our boy Lewis was part of the internet's greatest combination of unfunny people live there ever was. Now who does Doug riff live movies with hmmmmmmmmmmmmm?

Nah, he's too much of a coward to ever try it. He'd want his victims to come to him in a convenient place and time.
He has a lot in common with Gacy though.

Fat assholes who like to be seen as someone to look up too, raised in conservative families, likes to dress up in costumes, beard wives, and are closeted nasty little cock sluts. Honestly if we found out Lewis's backyard was also a cemetery I wouldn't be shocked.

Going by just what we know of Lewis he is pretty fucked in the head so you never know.

It’s been mentioned in this very thread I believe that MST3k—God of nerds who think they‘re funny—was actually quite heavily rehearsed. The cast would watch the movies more than once to figure out their jokes and timing. Yeah, they could ad lib, but it wasn’t nearly as effortless as they made it look. I recall Douglas Adams and I think Roman Atkinson—both very talented funnymen—mourning that people expected them to be the life of the party in person, when they actually worked very hard at their comedy. They were not and did not pretend to be spontaneous wits. If anything, I think people who are good at spontaneous comedy often aren’t great comic writers? What’s funny in the moment often doesn’t translate into being packaged or repeated viewing.

I thought it was quite obvious that MST3K (Who I think are funny but not hilarious) are scripted. There are too many times when the 3 will all start doing something at the same time, like singing a song using the same lyrics and rhythm instantly. It's pretty clearly scripted. I heard Atkinson saying the same, I think Stephen Fry said it too.

Being an adlib, off the cuff comedian can be very funny but it can also fall entirely flat, especially for comedic writing. I can't think of any adlib comedians who made good comedy movies or shows.

I get that basically that entire generation of Online Reviewers/Critics/...parody people? All got into it by watching MST3K when they were young but its sad they didn't realise that the boys heavily scripted their reactions and recorded in segments. It's like Spoony's "riffing" on videos, they were so clearly edited and scripted and that's why they worked. He didn't just sit down in front of a random video he'd never seen before and just start rambling.

I mean, it's not even a secret that MST3k was rehearsed and scripted. In one of the books by..mm..either Joel or Mike, they did say how they would rewatch a movie a few times to figure out what good material/jokes they could make. Heck, they even admitted struggling with really bad movies like Manos, Monster a Go-Go, or the Incredible Melting Man as examples.

Keep in mind Aktinson has a 178 IQ and is by all accounts an actual legitimate genius and is known for quick thinking, and even he doesn't attempt unscripted comedy lightly.

I guess only Blackadder could play Mr. Bean. Well, post series one Blackadder.

Another thing I think people forget about MST3K is that they didn’t just coast off their material. Like, most of their episodes weren’t about hugely memorable, catastrophically bad films. Their bread and butter was mediocrity. Less Santa Claus Conquers the Martians and more The Space Children. But people still tuned in week after week, because the cast were so powerful, they could make boredom funny. Compare and contrast with Linkara, who I unsubbed a while ago (shamefully late, but I won’t front) because I realised that I was only ever tuning in for the anniversary stuff or Secret Origins. I.E, stuff that was either so screamingly, laughably shit, Linkara doesn’t have to try, or things that were interesting novelties in and of themselves. All riffers are dependant on their content to some extent, but put it this way: Brad never complains about commenters begging him to stop talking over clips of The Buttercream Gang or whatever.

I love MST3K, but man did it inspire a whole generation of spergs or what?
