In this post I am going to be sperging about two particular topics, Russian Military issues regarding Military Modernization and their current Strategy in Donbass. Neither of which I am qualified to speak on but this is an internet retard mocking forum, do you seriously expect expert analysis?

1. Modernization troubles
From what I understand, Modernization efforts in the Russian Military (ESPECIALLY in regards to vehicles) are hampered almost entirely by financial issues. You probably already know this but there is something you might not be considering, Upkeep costs, sure flat out lack of money and theft of funds is a problem but when you have to maintain and upgrade tens of thousands of vehicles across several different models, types and variants it is a little hard to find money to build new super vehicles like the Armata Family (T-14, Kuganets, Bumerang, The SPG)

2. Donbass strategy
My understanding is the Russians are currently engaged in the process of grinding down the Ukranian Army through massed artillery fire. The evidence for this comes from a video from a Ukranian Soldier who was basically begging the Government to do something, anything to help the fighters on the Donbass front due to the relentless artillery being poured on them. My thoughts are that the Russians are banking on the Ukrainians running out of men/the will to fight before they themselves run out of Rockets and Shells (my money is on the Russians, they have millions of rounds for those and can make millions more)

It's like comparing kids building a sand castle to a construction crew building the WTC.
Depending on what WTC we're talking about, the incompetency remains pretty applicable. For any of the combatants.

The demoralizing effect of artillery is pretty brutal and well documented - but I think some of the mental aspects of it in modern warfare are even worse. These days, counter battery fire and the ability to trace back to where the shells are coming from is incredible. Most soldiers will know of this, or learn of it pretty quick when they hear about a battery being blown out by aircraft or return fire. This makes the fight seem even more hopeless when your side feels incapable of doing that. In the early 20th century, artillery was just as awful, but you knew you couldn't really do anything about it. Now, you know there is something that could be done, but your entire side is incapable of doing so, explicitly or by will.

Being told "We're reserving our artillery and aircraft for the counter attack" is little consolation in the moment, knowing they could act to try and stop your fighting position becoming the next crater.

I am impressed that the Russians bless their tanks by calling in a priest lol.

Does the US Military do anything similar with the M1 Abrams?
Actually yes. The Battalion Chaplain usually does a blessing of the vehicles. It's protestant though, so none of the formality. Usually just the Chaplain standing in front of the formation in the motor pool to ask gods blessings upon our vehicles that they may carry us to victory and safety. In that order.

A few days ago I saw this tweet:
".... Due to his special operations experience, UA military has reportedly placed him in leadership position and given him a lot of leeway in planning missions against RU forces."

Russia is also destroying Ukraine's fuel and army depots and some key railroad infrastructure so it's difficult/impossible for Ukraine to get their supplies.

It will be interesting to see how Russia continues to modernize now with how much they've been cut off from the West, they got their armored vehicle thermal optics from France for example, much of Russia's current modernization efforts have relied on western made components and it's really a necessity at this point, for all the talk of being self-reliant on military equipment, the days of being able to mass produce modern tanks and jets without compromise and foreign made components have been over for decades. Things like the SU-57 are dead in the water (probably already was even if Russia didn't invade) but Russia will probably still be able to mass produce the SU-75 since it's a light (nice word for designed to be cheap) fighter although that's still half a decade out at the very least.

Russia having to upkeep a massive nuclear arsenal (which they won't downsize because if they even do a small one they'd lose the dick measuring contest to the US) hogs up a lot of their military expenditure, also not helped by constantly trying to make more nuclear delivery wunderwaffe, so a large amount of their budget is going to their bloated nuclear forces instead of their much more useful conventional forces as well as some Quartermaster's pockets.

I think Russia's major problem regarding modernization has more to do with brain drain overall. Yeah in the near term the lack of access to western tech, which is prohibitively expensive, locks them out, but they could figure out their own version otherwise.

As for nukes and budgeting, nukes are the only proven thing to keep the US at bay and there's no competing with the US military budget anyway. They should tackle corruption first and foremost once this is done, regardless of the outcome.

"I am deeply concerned about the threat of hunger in the world. But in order to destroy Russia, we must be patient"

US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen- Your well being is a sacrifice that I'm willing to make.

It's not even a joke anymore. :story:

What good people.

Remind me again why I should feel bad about starving the people who openly state they want to destroy me.
It's not their fault they are like that.

Democracy is one hell of a drug.

These prisoners look surprisingly well treated.
Propably civilian volksturmers who surrendered as civilly as possible.
They apper to have been fed and treated well enough, better than how a Mighty Hun Chad treats a migrant.

Saw a police shirt on a woman, which could indicate these are volksturm volkunteers. Or she just looted it.

But keep in mind. This is not nam with US whites and nigs using US guns against soviet and chink gear using gooks.
Ruskie and wewuzviyikang ruskiyie Slavs are slavs and look the same, all a psyop needs is some looted gear and they use mostly the same tanks. So both sides has a very easy time making a propaganda shot.

> many transgender people defend our country

> there are some of them who have medical contraindications, and we help them travel abroad

Well, yes, it is not desirable to go to war if you have problems with your head

Just sniff their hair. If they smell like freedom, it's the Ukrainians. If they smell like oppression, it's the Russians. Simple as that.
You know what, scratch that, just sniff for the sake of it.

Pro-Ukraine twitter is saying the Russians used bags of ammonium nitrate as cover for their entrnchements.

They kind of look like fertilizer bags, but the most interesting thing is the white stuff on the ground. Those do look like fertilizer prills. So it's likely that fertilizer bags were dumped of their contents and filled with actual dirt.
Still wouldn't feel comfortable standing on that, though.

The Biden method, never fails. Though I guess freedom is alternate spelling for Hunter Biden's dried coom.
