He's suing people for outright false statements about him and his company, though. He has recently, as he predicted, been subject to political hit pieces, including about Tesla company. That's a bit different than Russ suing us for mean comments, even if you don't like Musk.
I'll wait to see who he actually sues. The whole "pedo guy" debacle really leaves me with a fairly low opinion of his prudence.

When a Thai soccer team was trapped in a cave, he built a minisub to rescue them. However, an experienced cave diver organized a rescue effort and got the team out. Musk's sub was never used. The diver accused Musk of staging a PR stunt, and they went back and forth and Musk called the diver a "pedo guy." He later said that pedo guy was a common insult in South Africa not meant to be taken literally. The diver sued him for defamation but lost.
When he tried to bring his gay little submarine to the cave rescue of those kids, the guy who was organizing the rescue told him it wouldn't fit into the tunnel because of the hairpin turns in it. It would just get stuck and block the cave and everyone would die. The guy, busy trying to save lives, might not have licked his asshole enough for Musk's liking, so he accused him of being a pedophile based on absolutely nothing.

Notably he lost after a jury trial, with the case not dismissed. I'd assume they didn't try to invoke the California anti-SLAPP in federal court because I believe in the Ninth Circuit it isn't available in federal court (although I believe state anti-SLAPP is substantive and should be applicable in federal courts sitting in diversity).
He also said he was friends with a lawyer who had a Molotov cocktail thrown at him and he got into a Matrix-style fight scene with Taylor's agents and ex boyfriends in a fantasy castle in his dreams. He's lying.
