General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

Is a model really that costly? My thing is, they are being outclassed by indies, if they don't adapt they will fall behind some of them. Obviously the streamer behind the avatar is most important, but I remember seeeing a Snuffy clip, and while I don't care for Snuffy I can't deny being impressed as her 3D model dynamically responding to in game lighting in her soma playthrough.
Thing with models and corpos is, the corpos are the ones who decide what works and what doesn't, they essentially control the trends. You can see it with shit like Mito making live2d the new norm and holoEN/NijiENmales proving their respective markets. I don't think any corpo is gonna stagnate just because they don't keep pace with some random coomerbait bitch who blew all her savings on a good boob rig to make up for her lack of any other appealing traits.

I think indies will always have better tech than corps, and trust me, you do not want a vtuber industry ruled by indies, if you dislike twitch/youtube/twitter creator drama, now imagine it but with anime waifus played by a bunch of trannies, dramawhores and schizophrenics, do i need to stress this any more...?

Easy, she gets money from the rabid cunny pedophiles /posters that are blind to her twitter autism while also getting the brownie points from having a "smol" model and sperging at people cunny posting about them
I'd edit out the C word my guy but yeah i get where you're coming from.

I hope Pippa will be fine, cause youtube is difficult resolving things if her channel does get taken down from his bullshit. Wonder if management will eventually tell her not to speak about anything from him too soon if more issues occur.

はちゃちパパ youtube ch is the only Live2D rigger I've ever watched do rigging, and he can take 20 to 40 hours to do basic rigging... to say nothing of special expressions and the fun little gimmicks all vtubers want. If you're starting at about 40 hours for a really fluid and solid rig, plus extra stuff, and probably have a half year+ wait list before your rigger is free, you may be paying a premium for the work.

There are riggers out there who can knock one out in an afternoon, but the quality is apt to be lacking.

Oh no I don't like indies (Aside from Juniper) and have grown to appreciate corporate tard wrangling. But it's just weird indies have more money for models and rigging than a corporation that has some of the most successful vtubers, I highly doubt shylilly was a millionaire before she began to livestream, same for Snuffy. I get corporations costs are amplified by number of talents, but I figured they would have some R+D money to help push talents further. I genuinely wonder what some people do given Irys isn't getting new attire despite people debuting after her getting new clothes, it just seems like Cover is slow at getting things done.

The main blocker for corpo vtuber models is most assuredly not the money side of things. Sometimes throwing money at a problem just doesn't help especially when it comes to creative projects.

Corpos want consistent commitment from their artists/riggers because they have multiple talents in multiple waves/gens they need to sync up. Imagine if a talent or even a whole wave/gen got skipped over for new outfits because one of the artists was too busy with their other commissions in gacha games or something. There's a reason Ina said she would never be a vtuber mama unless she graduates because being a good vtuber mama requires that level of effort/commitment.

Indies don't need to give a shit about any of that. Spend $10 or $100k on a decent model and if they want to change later they can just find someone else. Oh it's gonna be two months late because the artist broke their wrist? No biggie, they'll just delay their announcement or whip up a sob story for their fans. Oh there's a collab and some of the people are using free vtuber models or vroid models while you're rocking a bespoke design? Who cares.

Try any of that in corpo and there would be a shit storm. Heck all the Gura rigging complaints are a good example of what happens when there's a perceived (or actual) discrepancy in quality. Or the mild Luxiem merch furor because of perceived (or actual) favouritism. And also the Irys outfit situation.

TL;DR

1) Indies don't answer to anyone but themselves so they can do whatever the fuck they want.

2) Money is not the only limiting factor in projects.

Yabbit is streaming.
Would be nice if PC fixed their scheduling. Nasa just started a Karaoke stream. Similar to Michiru she has a very soft almost whisper-like voice.

This guy is trying his hardest to get hired on by Cover.
Already done. Ame and the other talents constantly commission Kanaru for some of their projects. She has been very consistent with her work also therefore she is pretty reliable.

The business I know is music (back when we actually had to sell records) and it was similar. "We" (indies, innovators, etc.) provided the material, and "they" (Sony usually) decided which fraction of our thing would be THE thing that all the kids would buy. Sometimes the fraction they chose was artistically worthy (Nirvana, Soundgarden, Oasis, etc.), but it was never as cool as the best shit. No Holo will ever be as interesting to look at as Shylily is.

Occasionally there would be such a wild outburst of creativity from "us" (late '60s, early '90s) that "they" just threw money all over the place hoping not to be dethroned by some other company that caught what "they" didn't. Right now Phase-Connect is the great alternative tuber label (Dischord, sort of?), and they're catching all the best girls who fall out of other companies.

No matter who eventually wins (spoiler: Sony will, though they fucking suck right now), Holo and Niji will be eaten. They're the big indies—SST and SubPop, approximately. When shit gets real, they'll just fucking sell you (girls).

Here's a song about it (that Mumei should sing)—
