My friend fighting for the Russians in Ukraine has finally had the time and phone access to type out his thoughts on the war thus far, note that these are his words and not mine and I'm just reporting his thoughts. He's got strong political convictions and has fought in Donbas before so he's certainly not objective, but as he's actually at the front, his insights are more valuable then 90% of posters in this thread.

He's on contract with a """""PMC""""" which is totally, definitely not connected to the Ministry of Interior or the Russian Government. He's from a post-Soviet nation, but yes he's basically part of the Russian army but not really.
