There’s an interesting friction between the Jennings and the far left milieu they have to rub shoulders with. The Jennings strike me as fairly stodgy, probably kind of conservative people. Probably not Republicans, but definitely the more centre-right wing of the Democrats, ya get me? As far as I can tell, trans Twitter doesn’t really discuss Jazz much. Part of that is probably just him being old news, or a walking refutation of the idea “early transition” results in some well adjusted, unclockable trans beauty queen.
But also, I think it’s probably because the Jennings are painfully unhip by trans activism standards. They always refer to Jazz as having ”a girl brain in boy body”. Suggesting that gender might be rooted in any kind of biology or neurology gets you crucified in a lot of circles. Gender must be both fixed and unchangeable (I remember my mother listening to some podcast about rich people where the hosts insisted on referring to Bruce Jenner as Catlyn even though at that point in the narrative he was decades away from transitioning) and rooted in absolutely fucking nothing. Meanwhile, the Jennings are firmly of the opinion that being trans is essentially a medical issue, even if they do make token nods to the enbys. In particular, I distinctly recall Sander (the George Costanza of the Jennings family) musing on the idea of being intimate with “a trans woman who hasn’t received her bottom surgery yet.” Now, aside from making bottom surgery sound like holy communion, suggesting that someone who thinks they’re a woman might want a vagina is yet another thing that’ll get you hounded by Twitter trans.
To put it another way, the Jennings may say Black Lives Matter, but you’ll never hear them shout, “Defund the police!”
(Please don’t take that as an endorsement of defund the police)
