It honestly just feels
extremely disrespectful that Amber is doodling through expert witness and only pays attention if her side is talking. I feel like she ought to be either always attentive or never attentive. Especially as an 'innocent' defendant. Johnny shifts his attention too, but he's more consistent with just rarely looking up at all or very mildly reacting to things. Amber puts on a pouty face at all times and scribbles through testimony unless she likes it.
Who knows, maybe there's just some really rude body language I'm seeing but not noticing and that's why Amber's behavior feels worse.
If you paid me $2.5 million for like 20 fucking minutes of work I'd damn well keep my mouth shut, get the job done and go laughing all the way to the fucking bank. I wouldn't be fucking around pretending its a breakthrough role or any other hilarious horseshit or I've been denied millions of dollars by whatever shithead I can dredge up.
She's also likeable on and off screen, clearly had good chemistry with Tom Holland and Jacob Batalon and is an acceptable evolution of MJ or we'd have a lot more shit flinging and screeching from both the CONSUME PRODUCT fanbase and Marvel fans.
Also, don't forget how much the Pandemic has fucked up more roles and castings for a lot of Hollywood people, she's still got pretty major irons in the fire, with her obviously returning for Dune Part 2, and she's the executive producer and main cast on Euphoria over on TV. Which considering some actors have been off our radar for well over a year-eighteen months due to the various (with hindsight retarded) restrictions put in place.
Rachel McAdams is also a good actress and I remember first "properly" seeing her back in 2013's About Time where she's the ead role. Again, unlike Heard she's had steady and solid roles rather than a handful of movies and some TV appearances. She's set to play a fairly major role in the upcoming Are You There God? It's Me Margaret. Which is due out in September this year in which she plays the fairly large role of Barbara, Margaret's mother.
She's got a fucking filmography a mile thick in which she plays a lot of rather key supporting roles, including Irene Adler in the Guy Ritchie Sherlock Holmes film.
She was the lead in Season 2 of True Detective for God's sake back when that was still riding super high in the ratings.
I'm amused by how the expert witnesses deployed by Depp are... ya know, actual experts rather than whatever scummy Hollywood Hangers On Heard's team keep finding.
Rather reflects the people involved, doesn't it?
The problem is that Amber is a narcissist. She believes that she's destined to be a big star. If you listen to her old co-star, everyone in the movie they were in thought they were gonna make it big because of that movie. That includes Amber. Then she married Johnny Depp and she got a breakout role she would never have gotten before. She
absolutely made herself believe that she was going to make it big - and this is one reason she made the abuse allegations immediately after the divorce. It lined up with the Aquaman release because she erroneously thought it would boost her career (which says something about metoo)
The other problem is because she's a narcissist she cannot accept that
she is at fault for not getting more roles. It can't be that she failed to capitalize on her opportunity, it can't be that she has bad chemistry with Jason Momoa. It
must be that Depp sabotaged her somehow, it must be that WB is being unfair to her and ruining her career that she should have gotten because she'd only been held back before because she hadn't gotten an opportunity before.
There's plenty to say about Zendaya and her role as MJ, but ultimately her having a smaller role despite being MJ is probably mostly because of what I said. They squandered her 'intro' movie because they never planned on it being her, so she has missed her opportunity to have a big role as the designated love interest.
The COVID thing is interesting to point out, but I think the reason Amber isn't considering that as a factor is because none of the people
she thinks she's comparable to (people like Jason Momoa and Gal Gadot) were negatively impacted by the cutbacks. Because she thinks she's good enough to be like them, if she's not treated like them it's an injustice somehow. It can't be COVID because that's applied equally to everyone. It must be targeted at her. She naturally points at Johnny because he's an easy target for her.
Because all of Amber's actions and conclusions are delusional and knee-jerk she can't really get good expert witnesses with fact or reason involved. How can she, when none of her claims are rooted in any fact other than 'Johnny said mean things to me sometimes'?
