Crime Gunman at a Texas elementary school kills 19 students and two adults before being fatally shot, officials say - yeehaw

(CNN)A suspect is in custody after a shooting incident at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, left at least two dead and injured 14 people, including students, authorities said.

The Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District (UCISD) posted about an "active shooter" at Robb Elementary at 12:17 p.m. local time and said law enforcement was on site.

The suspect was taken into custody as of 1:06 p.m. local time, according to the Uvalde Police Department.
Two have died after the shooting at Robb Elementary School, a spokesperson from Uvalde Memorial Hospital told CNN.

The hospital received 13 children at their facility who were being treated for varying injuries, he said. Two children were transported to San Antonio and another is pending transfer, Tom Nordwick said.

Additionally, two patients were dead on arrival, he said. Nordwick was not sure of the ages of the two deceased. A man in his 40s was also being treated there, he said.

Nordwick did not have conditions on any of the victims.

This is a developing story and will be updated.

Did this school have a resource officer? My town with about the same population has two resource officers at each school for the entire school day.

That's not necessarily a guarantee that people will be safe, there is always the scenario where when a shooting occurs they run away. Though with that said I have no idea if resource officers had any involvement in this shooting or not.

Edit: Apologies for the double post, thought the thread was moving faster.

i was being facetious. i think it's a sad state of affairs when we feel the only way to keep our children safe is to turn their schools into prisons.
There's a lot of other options, but no one wants to have those discussions unfortunately. Very few people even bother asking why so many shooters target schools, no one cares to figure this shit out.

perhaps if we surround the school with a moat...
Bro it was a spic, moat wouldn't have done shit.

Fourteen children were murdered and your first response is to whine about how oppressed white people are.

This shooting isn't going to be forgotten in a week. It's already one of the deadliest active shooter incidents of the year, and most of the victims are children. Yes, there's a degree of bias in all news coverage, but claiming that something is being "memoryholed" when it's receiving to-the-minute updates from the New York Times is just delusional.
Yeah, I'd be more inclined to believe you if the Vegas shooting hadn't gotten that exact treatment.

That's not what I'd call a white Hispanic. I wonder if they'll lighten him in further updates.

I got a woketarded relative who thinks the motive was the Texas abortion laws behind a Roe vs. Wade catalyst. Umm yeah... If there was ever an argument for abortions, even post birth, it's Salvador Ramos. At least the police were able to exterminate him. Because he has major "troon out in prison" face going on.

i figure they target schools because kids are helpless. we need to arm all the children.

well what do you fucking recommend? these people are literally unstoppable. miles of virtually uninhabitable land? fences? moats? what can't they cross?

Lol if I had kids I wouldn’t give a shit if their school looked like a dystopian nightmare if it even had a chance of deterring an active shooter and they came home alive.

It’s sad that it’s a reality but that’s where things seem to be in America and it’s not getting better and probably won’t because it’s not an easy problem to solve.
Don’t know if it can be solved frankly but that doesn’t mean precautions shouldn’t be taken.

Some facts about the shooting thus far:

1. The shooter was an 18 year old named Rolando Romas who attended Uvalde High School
2. Robb Elementary School is 90% Latino (im not calling it latinx)
3. Nearly half of Uvalde, Texas is non-English speaking
4. The city of about 16,000 people is approximately 60 miles from the United States-Mexico border
So. One of the bastions of cultural enrichment.

It's not even been two hours yet and coverage already seems kind of... half-hearted? Apathetic? Mass shootings aren't interesting anymore, people will only give a shit if they can be spun for the benefit of some group's grievance cause (e.g. the Buffalo shooting being a white guy targeting black people).

Is it just me or do all these mass shootings seem to come in waves?
It like period goes by with none then all of a sudden theres a few of them in a couple of months then it goes quiet again.
The mid-terms are the corner so they are reviving up an issue that they lost in ever since the summer of love that was 2020. Which was gun control.
