The character designs are so complex he has to spend an entire straight paragraph just describing one. Near nothing is happening in this paragraph at all except for the character description. I'm no writer, but I think the phrase "show, don't tell" could apply here. Instead of just describing him, you could introduce his appearance through his actions as he carries on through the story. For example, "His crimson-tipped ears perked," rather than mentioning his ears in the first sentence, going on to describe other parts of his body and then coming back to his ears.

It reminds me of My immoral when Enoby would spend paragraphs talking about what new Hot Topic outfit everyone was wearing.

To be honest, with how "complex" his characters are and Sam not being fully capable coherently describing them, he might've been better making this a epistolary style story, or a journal written by another Kiv. Kinda like "We need to talk about Kevin" and such.
That way, rather than wasting words on describing his Kivs, he can organically incorporate the pictures he'll be adding and just move along.

But that's under the assumption that this is an exploratory story of his world, and not a linear telling of Lucy's life. Even then, it could be Lucy's journal and her writing down her thoughts and what she thinks of the world and its inhabitants.

So there was a super hot discussion in the discord about the breast and nipple thing, that basically went for an hour like that:

“Why can’t males have nipples but females do have and even breasts too though breasts serve no purpose at all”
“Because animals have them too”
“But they’re there to feed children, but the Kivs have no purpose for them”

If the Kiv predate the universe and indeed live for millions/billions of years, shapeshift (based on older footage, not sure if still canon), and literally fight to be the strongest and genetically superior young (I do NOT mean that in a eugenics type of way BTW, I mean it purely survival of the fittest), why the hell would the choose to have nipples if not to keep them for sexual reason?
Use insects as a base idea of how to model your aliens, but try to think outside the box on how evolution works. Especially for a world that works in what seems to be 4th dimensional.

It’s now changed that both the mates give their “genetic makeup” on a third one which is beheaded, and then the children mixture of the two pops up (the third is just a catalyst for these and dies afterwards, not passing down any genes).
Which means same gender ones can have babies which is kind of cute and hilarious at the same time.
