Crime Gunman at a Texas elementary school kills 19 students and two adults before being fatally shot, officials say - yeehaw

(CNN)A suspect is in custody after a shooting incident at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, left at least two dead and injured 14 people, including students, authorities said.

The Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District (UCISD) posted about an "active shooter" at Robb Elementary at 12:17 p.m. local time and said law enforcement was on site.

The suspect was taken into custody as of 1:06 p.m. local time, according to the Uvalde Police Department.
Two have died after the shooting at Robb Elementary School, a spokesperson from Uvalde Memorial Hospital told CNN.

The hospital received 13 children at their facility who were being treated for varying injuries, he said. Two children were transported to San Antonio and another is pending transfer, Tom Nordwick said.

Additionally, two patients were dead on arrival, he said. Nordwick was not sure of the ages of the two deceased. A man in his 40s was also being treated there, he said.

Nordwick did not have conditions on any of the victims.

You literally say you don't want to make assumption, but you see a video of a man running with a rifle into a building and nothing else, and then you go and assume he is RUNNING from the police. It was already confirmed he was killed by a lone Border Patrol agent who didn't wait for backup, so obviously he was not in active nearby pursuit by the police or else they also would have shown up along with the agent.

There was a report on his truck when the pursuit ended at Robb Elementary School. He proceeded to leave his truck and got inside the school to start firing at people indiscriminately.

In a video released online that still hasn't been 100% confirmed, there is a clip of the alleged shooter carrying an assault weapon while entering the school.

Yes, you get along fine with no way to actively defend yourselves against the increasing number of what should be considered illegal invaders. I based the post off of information about a decade old. Active shooter responses have evolved and now allow a single officer to respond.

For those interested, the evolving response to active shooters is below:

Early on in the change in tactics, officers were advised to wait until there were four or five of them at the scene before entering together.

“Then we started to realize that waiting for four or five people could mean waiting several minutes, so we started authorizing smaller teams to enter,” said Peter Blair, executive director of the Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training Center at Texas State University. “From four to three to two, and now we are in an era where departments authorize a single officer to make entry.”

Later reports seemed to indicate that the border patrol agent who shot him went in alone ASAP which would follow the current protocol for active shooters... but who knows. Early reports are never to be trusted with this stuff.

The new policy is not waiting for SWAT to arrive. The first responding unit sets up and observes. They are waiting for between two to three other units to arrive so they can stop the shooter together.

Not one agency trains their officers to go in solo. The reason is that their are too many corners, nooks, doors, and hiding spaces. Not having another pair of eyes will get the lone officer killed.

Let's not forget this is an ELEMENTARY school. They don't typically have these drills. Those are usually middle and highschool.
They are a joke, however, and it's obvious that teachers should be allowed to conceal carry. If i have to trust that these people are not going to groom and rape my kids, I should be able to trust they won't turn the gun on them either.
