Russia losing so many tanks, I can’t wait to see the t34-85 come out of retirement.
There is a merit to it (if you sniff glue), according to ukies russians lost over 1600 tanks so far, which would be half of what they had in active service pre-war on all stations.

ETA over 1200, as per 23.05. My bad.

This has been an argument the serbs have used in just about every conflict they were in, and apparently now they're using it in Russian conflicts too. Every time this has been investigated though it's always come down to either crossfire, the location being actively used as a firing position, or individual fuck heads being fuck heads. That was when fighting muslims by the way.
In Ukraine? Possibly. I'm merely writing down shit for posterity to see what turns out to be true and what not. I'm not too familiar with the relationship between the Russian and the Ukrainian orthodox churches or how much the Russian orthodox church is perceived as a threat by Ukraine that needs to be removed.

If you're referring to the destruction of Serb orthodox churches, especially in Kosovo, it had a more systematic nature than collateral damage I'm afraid, especially after the war.

Why do all Russian officers look like potato people? I understand that Chernobyl gives Ukrainians an excuse, but not Russia.

Dead cat bounce due to strict control measures by the state. This is not viable long term.

I watched an interesting video on why the ruble is doing that, and what it means for daily life in Russia.

tl;dw because of sanctions and regulations there's little demand for dollars while there's a big supply through exports, so the value of dollars drops relative to rubles.
Prices for goods and services in Russia increase quickly with no real end in sight as the economy is going to hell, but while raw material exports continue, the government can subsidize selling inferior products and services to satisfy at least some demand.
People in charge of those government operations can make a fortune, while everyone else gets poorer. Most Russians are already very poor by Western standards, so that sucks.

It doesn't seem like the Russians were in a position to capture significant amounts of Ukrainian equipment, compared to what the Ukrainians could capture after the Russian feints in the north.
Russia had captured, repaired and distributed around 130~ Ukrainian tanks to the separatists by early March. Most of the tanks that get knocked out in this war will be repaired and put back to fighting unless they had their turret blown off or got captured (or abandoned in enemy territory), in which case they'll get salvaged for anything useful to repair other tanks.

More new tanks are made every day, and surely many are repaired on the field and others upgraded in factories in Russia, to be shipped out whenever. There is little danger of Russia ever running out of serviceable tanks, much less resorting to the T-62 (thousands of un-upgraded T-72s still around). It is far more likely that Ukraine runs out of tanks due to limited places available for extensive repair (no factories left, must ship to allied country) and straight up a limited number of tanks, since everyone's already given them what they're willing to give and as they lose them in combat.

Is Kharkov tank plant even in a condition where they could attempt to fix some? I didnt really read about the plant being attacked, guess Russians want to take it unscathed.
