If you ever look at a lot of Renaissance paintings, you’ll notice that a lot of the women look like men with weird pancake boobs. You see it a lot in depictions of Eve for instance. This is because often the artists didn’t have access to female models. It’s similar to why so many paintings of the infant Christ look like full grown dudes shrunken down, besides the artists’ patrons asking for Jesus to modelled after themselves or a nephew or something.
