Crime Gunman at a Texas elementary school kills 19 students and two adults before being fatally shot, officials say - yeehaw

(CNN)A suspect is in custody after a shooting incident at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, left at least two dead and injured 14 people, including students, authorities said.

The Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District (UCISD) posted about an "active shooter" at Robb Elementary at 12:17 p.m. local time and said law enforcement was on site.

The suspect was taken into custody as of 1:06 p.m. local time, according to the Uvalde Police Department.
Two have died after the shooting at Robb Elementary School, a spokesperson from Uvalde Memorial Hospital told CNN.

The hospital received 13 children at their facility who were being treated for varying injuries, he said. Two children were transported to San Antonio and another is pending transfer, Tom Nordwick said.

Additionally, two patients were dead on arrival, he said. Nordwick was not sure of the ages of the two deceased. A man in his 40s was also being treated there, he said.

Nordwick did not have conditions on any of the victims.

This is a developing story and will be updated.

The NRA is not some massively evil entity. They give a moderate amount of money. The power of the NRA is the members and other fellow gun owners.

You can kill the entire NRA but then gun owners will just start another group.
They are evil as they refuse to stand for any unpopular gun rights (like bump stocks and pistol braces). They stand for the industry's interest. I'd recommend the GOA (Gun Owners of America) if looking for a lobbying organization to back.

For all the talk about how bad the NRA, there is already another organization titled Gun Owners of America (GOA) and by many accounts they are more popular with gun owners nowadays (I would like to hear more peoples experiences with this organization if at all possible) and when liberals figure out about this organization they will probably be even more frightened of it

Edit: @Puff beat me to it

There is already GOA and SAF and a few others that do a lot of work.

NRA is currently undergoing a crisis of leadership.

IIRC Allen West is trying to run for its leadership spot. And would do a better job than Wayne La Pierre for sure.

Just a random thought to put out there, although they are worthy of being mocked and banished, people misrepresent the purpose of gun-free zones, by mocking them as a worthless solution to gun violence. That's probably what politicians said at the time, but really it's just a way to tack on extra counts when somebody gets charged. Like the laws that some states have that you are "not allowed to use a gun while committing a crime".

Apologies if this has already been posted. This CNN article features this image from an "Instagram story tied to the subject".

The article claims the account is called "salv8dor", but the name on the screenshot doesn't look at all like the word "salv8dor". I CANNOT read the word though
The lad bought an pretty expensive rifle just for pretty quick free of charge one way trip to hell.

I don't know if it's more or less fucked up that he invested in quality while carrying this out rather than buying some cheap AR.

They also won't defend my constitutional rights to bear rocket launchers, auto cannons, and heavy artillery. So NRA doesn't deserve ONE RED CENT!

Like Gun Owners of America? I mean it would certainly kick off a repeat of 1776, not a civil war, because it's the Bills of Rights itself being fucked with, not some dispute over state's rights. There's no ambiguity in the Second Amendment, no matter how hard the anti gun fags try to meme bad grammar and ignorance of the English language.

This but unironically. I want my cannon on my privately owned merchant vessel.

As to this tragic event- there is a solution to this, but, of course, it would take time, money and effort. Politicians (from both major parties) literally hate that because it does not fit into one tweet.

IMO we need to change our culture. I own several guns myself and that should always be legal, yet, I would not mind if we had more control over who could buy them. You know, sort out the crazies. Next- we need to teach our kids how to resolve conflicts openly yet peacefully. We also need more investments into mental health in general, especially with regards to vulnerable youngsters (like high-school dropouts).

Totally no sexy. Let's just blame Abbott because he is-somewhat- in charge here. No one else can be blamed, like, i.e Bush Jr. whom my whole family "fondly" remembers as gov' of TX. Oh, we also had several policemen murdered- although we have high incarceration rates and a "hang 'em higher" justice system....I think we should try the Norvegian approach (invest in people) but that would be "communism" I guess.

Psychopathy has no cure. You can pump the kid up with anti psychotics & depressants but it won’t really make much of a difference. Therapy doesn’t help much either

But you also can’t institutionalize the psychopaths until they actually commit a crime.

So, yeah. Even if there were mental health services & people monitoring the schizo, he probably would’ve committed a crime eventually.

If he was flagged & couldn’t legally get a gun, maybe he would’ve chose a different crime or weapon. Or maybe he would’ve gotten an illegal one.

Like I said earlier. I can’t think of a way to prevent every single tragedy like this while preserving constitutional freedoms. And preserving freedoms prevents even worse tragedies.

So suck it up buttercups
Ive always said this; gun deaths are the cost of freedom of living in the US. Yes you can own 10 guns in this country but that comes at a cost. Its just an inconvenient truth. Those who want to eliminate guns think they're the hero but really they are sacrificing freedom. If you don't like it, then move to another country but thats just how the US is.
