Crime Gunman at a Texas elementary school kills 19 students and two adults before being fatally shot, officials say - yeehaw

(CNN)A suspect is in custody after a shooting incident at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, left at least two dead and injured 14 people, including students, authorities said.

The Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District (UCISD) posted about an "active shooter" at Robb Elementary at 12:17 p.m. local time and said law enforcement was on site.

The suspect was taken into custody as of 1:06 p.m. local time, according to the Uvalde Police Department.
Two have died after the shooting at Robb Elementary School, a spokesperson from Uvalde Memorial Hospital told CNN.

The hospital received 13 children at their facility who were being treated for varying injuries, he said. Two children were transported to San Antonio and another is pending transfer, Tom Nordwick said.

Additionally, two patients were dead on arrival, he said. Nordwick was not sure of the ages of the two deceased. A man in his 40s was also being treated there, he said.

Nordwick did not have conditions on any of the victims.

Apologies for posting again so soon, but I just wanted to highlight some happier news from the article I linked in my previous post.

• Of the 12 surviving patients admitted to Uvalde Memorial Hospital, 4 have been released.
• The 2 adult patients admitted to Brooke Army Medical Center at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston, have had their status down graded from critical to serious.
• University Hospital in San Antonio, said that a 66-year-old woman (this might be the grandmother) and a 10-year-old girl listed in critical condition are now in serious condition
• Further, a 10-year-old girl remains in good condition, and a 9-year-old girl previously listed in fair condition is now in good condition,

If all goes well, the death count shouldn't go up and it looks like the injured should recover for the most part.

The reason I oppose gun control is because guns are the most effective tool at opposing tyrannical leaders and self defense.

Often people use gun vs. knife (or vehicular homicides or etc.) to show that there are far worse things causing more amounts of death [only in the case of vehicles] OR that the slippery slope would start by banning guns then knives, then etc. Most people don't bring up knives to compare them on even grounds but even knives and other weapons can easily do heavy damage to the body and that's without bringing up different concepts when using such weapons.

People have been subconsciously set up to fear guns due to fear mongering nothing more nothing less. If some guy jumps me with a knife, it may not be a gun but the reaction (fight or flight) is going to be the same. Heck most people have proven that many are cowards in face of any death even something like Covid. What a surprise fear mongering propaganda works.

No one is saying knives work as well as a gun, but to dismiss that they can be used in the same effective manner is pure nonsense. Just because guns are far more simple to use doesn't mean they are not effective at all, or can't pile up bodies or are harmless toys.

It's not about whether the argument is sound, it's the precedent of why it was put into effect, it's a stop gap concept that the founding fathers put in to stop authoritarians from just banning all weapons over time. It's to give the population a way to defend themselves and justification to stop the government from taking the potential for self-defense from madmen in government away. Just because in theory the government would probably roflstomp anyone who stood against them doesn't change the argument or set for precedent.

America's founding was based on the same principle, many thought that Britain would destroy the founding fathers opposition and only a small amount stood by their side and didn't want to submit which would have had them hung for treason against Britain.

Here is the thing.

While I think the President is protected; all those that pilot, drive, upkeep, or delivery the materials for our advanced war machines are not. Neither are all the plants where all these parts are manufactured.

Regarding the military, the US military is decentralized for a reason. We do not have just one military but tons of different bases in different states with different commander's. We have a state National Guards under the command of the governor and even those are spread out widely in a state.

You might not think a band of fatasses with guns can help but let's say certain military forces need to raid a facility but their is a quick reaction force 30 minutes away.

It would be kind of unfortunate if the radio relays were taken over and could not transmit the distress signal. It would be bad for the QRF if they were ambushed on their way there.

A civil war in the US will be one of irregular warfare.
