Lawsuits to advance 2nd Amendment rights and defending people accused of violating unconstitutional laws are good things, no? NYSRPA v. Bruen is at the Supreme Court now and a decision is expected soonish. If it goes well, a lot of silliness in blue states will be shut down.
I'm expecting a mild ruling that only addresses the particular case. Of course I was also expecting that on the abortion case, so we can hope.

tbdesu at times I worry a bit about the unmitigated nigh-universal loathing for Burden ending up in things going completely totalitarian (in a way I might fall out of favor of eventually and thus would inconvenience me personally and then I'd care)
I doubt that. You get totalitarianism from democracy when democratic institutions are completely unable to deal with threats... and what exactly about Joe Biden is democratic, as opposed to Democratic? A dude fucking everything up after getting in thanks to blatant vote rigging isn't going to make people want less freedom, but rather the opposite.

I'd give you a rainbow...
IF I HAD ONE
but yeah legit I get how things seem abysmal but I can see ways things get worse
but just think about how much ORANGE MAN BAD was able to keep the proles in line for a hot minute, so then extend it to DEMENTIA MAN BAD

Yes, Dementia Man is bad, but again, he's not exactly inspiring confidence in giving government more power, now is he?

my kingdom for a rainbow
Well, just look at what happened the last time the USA got done tossing out a totalitarian dickbag... we ended up writing first the Articles of Confederation and then the Constitution of the United States to do our best to ensure another fuckhead like that wouldn't come along. You can talk about things changing, but at their core a good many Americans revile authoritarianism, especially when its demonstrating here and now that it can't even get food on the table and gas in people's cars.

They had to fight a war for that. Tyranny doesn't care that you're voting.

oh good
got anything from not two hundred years ago?
Civil War? We wound up tossing out amnesties and restoration of rights to just about everyone involved. Even Jefferson Davis, unrepentant as he was about the Civil War, was allowed to travel around and speak freely, and was allowed to fade into irrelevance on his own.

Hell, look at the Bushes. Even (or perhaps due to how) reviled as they are we decided to let popular opinion drive them into irrelevance rather than write anti-Bush laws in an attempt to crack down. The American people are far more likely to let public opinion eliminate Biden and the Dems instead of writing up laws or just plain seizing force.

EDIT: @Puff we fought a war to liberate ourselves from tyranny, and then decided not to inflict that same tyranny upon ourselves (an American monarchy) simply to prevent British rule from returning. Hell, we even had one Founding Father put forth the idea of a, I shit you not, a "Christian Sparta" as his vision of the USA, and he was told to shut the fuck up unless he wanted a fucking backhand.

What pisses me off is how after the shootint, people on social media immediately started using the UK and asutralia to justify why we need gun control.
Which annoys me as an australian, because I think it ignores what I like to call the poop touch problem; once guns are in the system, you can't just take them out. I think it's better to not have guns than have them, but once they're in the system, they're in the system. You can't just act like passing a few laws will get the Muggers to give up their guns, because criminals, by definition, do not follow laws.

Politifact "fact checks" Poso

I haven't trusted fact checkers since I caught Snopes rating the same claim differently depending on who made it. Trump claimed Amazon didn't pay it's taxes, they rated it false. Bernie Sanders made the same claim and they rated it true. They've since removed both pages and made one page that just rates the claim itself true.
But I remember seeing it. And I haven't trusted a fucking fact checker with a political topic since.

Rights other than to self governance. States should be allowed to leave. Also up until the last election cycle the north got to check our voting districts.

Who fact-checks the Fact Checkers™️?

Even then simply because this shooter was Hispanic I don’t see as much gusto from typical libs regarding this shooting. You’ll sometimes get a white liberal or college educated brown person talking about why AR’s need to go but it just isn’t there. Most people have more important things to think about in Biden’s economy :)
