What's up farmers? I recently lost and reacquired my 11 month old cat. I burned up all the Sheba turkey Pate I had and there doesn't seem to be any in my city. It has been a hit and miss the months before he escaped and came back, and I am quite tired of going store to store to find it.

For all of my fellow cat parents, what brand of wet cat food do you recommend?

Friskies or 9 Lives. I have 10 cats. Our motto around here is quite simple: Eat it or die.

Also, stay away from the fishy stuff. Makes my cats puke. Stay with the chicken, turkey, mixed grill type pates. Much more digestible.

I would recommend stockpiling cat food. If BOTH cat food and meat disappear from shortages you'll be screwed. I have a huge sack of healthy veterinarian cat food my cat doesn't like that I can use as an emergency stockpile.

Some tips.
1.Cats like variety of food so don't keep giving them the same thing over and over again.

2. Cats are like people each have their own tastes, which can suck for the wallet.

3. One cat may like something, week after won't touch it.

Really best off getting a few packets of stuff and see what the cats enjoys making a note of them
With my cat I give him Purina (usually Meow Mix, but I'm trying to switch to something less likely to kill him of struvite crystals) kibble, which he prefers, and Sheba pate on occasion (which he eats reluctantly).

For real food he refuses anything that isn't raw, and I give him on occasion egg yolks, chicken, sliced ham. Anything he'll lick but those are the only things he'll reliably actually eat. Sometimes he'll drink milk or blood, it's generally wasted on him.

A big problem with pates (like Sheba) is that it seems like cats reject food thats been out for a while and especially so if it's a pate that can dry out. So the cat either needs to be fed very frequently, or he'll only partially finish his pate. I think of pate as just extra, alternative food.

My cat loves the Sheba perfect portions. But dry food is where its at. Purina ONE seems to be what works for my cat. He has a little bit of a sensitive stomuch. Also, water fountains are a godsend. They really do attract cats and make them drink more.

My stupid cat won’t eat poultry or beef wet food, which of course is the only thing that’s usually in stock. Dry food it seems like he doesn’t give a shit. We try to give him some kind of fishy wet food, mixed with a little water.

I always went to the upscale independent pet store and bought the most expensive thing on the shelf. I think it was Fromm. Then she died of an intestinal tumor, so what do I know?

I feed my cat Purina dry and wet food, both chicken
but some vets advise against it and want me to feed them stuff from the vet itself or pet store
any idea as to why other than an obv shill?

my cats don't really like wet catfood or even people grade food
they'll poke at it for the novelty for a hot minute but they really dig Costco Salmon and Sweet Potato crunchies
they're okay with lesser crunchies, too, but really Costco Salmon is their main jam
