Now whoever is arguing with her is obviously a fanboy of the original trilogy as proven by him saying "I don't know how you could see that in the movie. FA is fun. ANH is a masterpiece. But w/e, to reach their own." but whatever, his original point about Wu being an idiot is perfectly valid.

Bri is so shallow, that in her mind Episode VII is the better movie just by virtue of it looking sleeker but completely ignoring that technology since 1975 (when ANH was being filmed if memory serves) has become much more sophisticated by comparison. Over 40 years ago they filmed a movie that became the foundation of one of the most lucrative and beloved phenomenon in cinematic history.

The Force Awakens, while being a very enjoyable movie, is really nothing more than a rescript of the original Star Wars ported into the 21st century. It will not be remembered as a groundbreaking movie. The only thing groundbreaking is that it is one of the highest grossing movies in history.

The original trilogy, while definitely flawed, is the giants shoulder that TFA is standing on. All that talk of nuanced villains (Tarkin, Vader, Lando in some sense, Palpatine, Jabba anyone?), diversity and better actting is nothing more than praising the superficial to appear sophisticated.
