Dude, you might want to be careful power-levelling on a forum that’s crawling with active and pissed-off-at-you Russian agents, perhaps even some with GRU cyber warfare links. Just sayin’
☺️ Not to worry, retired many years ago. Things have been stated in general terms, even more general than in my officer performance reports. Not real worried about any Russian agents. Interestingly, had people from Russia and Ukraine working for me during my last assignment, as associate dean of a Russian language school. One couple lives nearby.

@St.Davis - you are free to believe or not believe anything I say. Doesn't matter to me. Obviously cannot discuss much of what I did, standard with signals intelligence people.

Where are the crewless self propelled howitzers and rocket launchers?
Crewless ground vehicles like that aren't happening anytime soon. Vehicles need a minimum number of warm bodies around for a variety of reasons. What happens to your fancy robo-howitzer when it's emptied it's magazine and needs reloading? What happens when the autoloader jams? What happens when the radiator throws a belt? what happens when it gets stuck in the mud etc etc.

How about tanks?
I could see some use for an unmanned scout tank, since scouts are are theoretically more likely to run into the enemy with less support. Otherwise again, no, the bodies have too many uses. Hell that's one of the reasons most western tanks still use a human loader, because having a 4th man in the vehicle who can help/take over other roles at need is of great use

you can implement backup and emergency systems to handle all these problems that commonly occur in the field. we're able to operate unmanned drones in orbit, even some that drive around on the moon and mars, we absolutely are able to do the same on the battlefield.
the reason it is not being done is that all this would require a lot of extra research and development, and the vehicle would be very costly to produce compared to manned vehicles.

One thing I have been wondering is, where is the Mi-24 or Mi-35 Hind gunship or crocodile armored tank in all of this war?

Considered the icon of the Soviet or Russian military in Hollywood movies and videogames in the West.

Where is it since all I see is that weird looking Ka-52 or the Mi-28 once in a while.

Mi-24/35 is still being used, I remember videos taken of it while providing escort for convoys. They arent really fit for heaviest fighting, but I would wager they are used to insert patrols or small groups of troops when not on aerial patrol duty.

On the other hand, those unmanned satellites are ridiculously sensitive and they use as much solid state stuff as possible for reliability. They won't get stuck in the mud. They don't have radiators or belt driven anything.

There's videos of them being used, they seem to do a lot of lofting releases of unguided rockets because overflying an enemy with the cheat codes for Stingers and Pioruns isn't a great idea.

I dunno man, what do you do if it throws a track? A crew can fix that, onboard electronics cannot.
Shrug, just park it until the front line advances to the point where your engineers can safely recover it. You can still keep an eye on it and fire on anyone trying to tow it away. If it gets destroyed, nbd, you have plenty more.

This movie is a warcrime. Neither the Coast Guard or that Hind deserved this. I think we've finally found something Americans and Russians can agree on.

WarGonzo has been removed from Youtube.

I've been apprehensive about giving Ukraine troops certain capabilities as I don't trust the troops to stay within their lateral limits. I'm happy to be proven wrong but they've already had guys cross the Russian border supposedly without official approval.
Not to mention it invites Russian strikes in potentially sensitive areas (Kiev) that could also escalate.

The temptation to strike behind Russian lines or something is understandably high.
