President Joe Biden on Tuesday said that the United States will impose sanctions “far beyond” the ones that the United States imposed in 2014 following the annexation of the Crimean peninsula.

“This is the beginning of a Russian invasion of Ukraine,” Biden said in a White House speech, signaling a shift in his administration’s position. “We will continue to escalate sanctions if Russia escalates,” he added.

Russian elites and their family members will also soon face sanctions, Biden said, adding that “Russia will pay an even steeper price” if Moscow decides to push forward into Ukraine. Two Russian banks and Russian sovereign debt will also be sanctioned, he said.

Also in his speech, Biden said he would send more U.S. troops to the Baltic states as a defensive measure to strengthen NATO’s position in the area.

Russia shares a border with Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.

A day earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered troops to go into the separatist Donetsk and Lugansk regions in eastern Ukraine after a lengthy speech in which he recognized the two regions’ independence.

Western powers decried the move and began to slap sanctions on certain Russian individuals, while Germany announced it would halt plans to go ahead with the Russia-to-Germany Nord Stream 2 pipeline.

At home, Biden is facing bipartisan pressure to take more extensive actions against Russia following Putin’s decision. However, a recent poll showed that a majority of Americans believe that sending troops to Ukraine is a “bad idea,” and a slim minority believes it’s a good one.

All 27 European Union countries unanimously agreed on an initial list of sanctions targeting Russian authorities, said French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, and EU foreign affairs head Josep Borell claimed the package “will hurt Russia … a lot.”

Earlier Tuesday, Borell asserted that Russian troops have already entered the Donbas region, which comprises Donetsk and Lugansk, which are under the control of pro-Russia groups since 2014.

And on Tuesday, the Russian Parliament approved a Putin-back plan to use military force outside of Russia’s borders as Putin further said that Russia confirmed it would recognize the expanded borders of Lugansk and Donetsk.

“We recognized the states,” the Russian president said. “That means we recognized all of their fundamental documents, including the constitution, where it is written that their [borders] are the territories at the time the two regions were part of Ukraine.”

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Putin said that Ukraine is “not interested in peaceful solutions” and that “every day, they are amassing troops in the Donbas.”

Meanwhile, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday morning again downplayed the prospect of a Russian invasion and proclaimed: “There will be no war.”

“There will not be an all-out war against Ukraine, and there will not be a broad escalation from Russia. If there is, then we will put Ukraine on a war footing,” he said in a televised address.

The White House began to signal that they would shift their own position on whether it’s the start of an invasion.

“We think this is, yes, the beginning of an invasion, Russia’s latest invasion into Ukraine,” said Jon Finer, the White House deputy national security adviser in public remarks. “An invasion is an invasion and that is what is underway.”

For weeks, Western governments have been claiming Moscow would invade its neighbor after Russia gathered some 150,000 troops along the countries’ borders. They alleged that the Kremlin would attempt to come up with a pretext to attack, while some officials on Monday said Putin’s speech recognizing the two regions was just that.

But Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin told reporters Tuesday that Russia’s “latest invasion” of Ukraine is threatening stability in the region, but he asserted that Putin can “still avoid a full blown, tragic war of choice.”

Arguing with a Russian true believer is useless. Everything is dirty westoid propaganda and the sources used are sources that may even not support his point of view. He'll just throw shit at you until it sticks.

The best way to handle a Russian true believer is to insult him and disregard him. He's coming here for abuse first and foremost to show that his opponents are exactly as he imagined - ruthless and cruel. Russian society as a whole seems to be built upon that, hence the fixation on anal domination a-la Rome you see in the army, in the prison and in the everyday life.

Just piss on him.
I suppose he's the internet equivalent of a Dubai porta-potty. Except he takes this abuse for free. How sad.

USA *won't* do shit if the Poland or some other unimportant European country gets nuked.
there are tens of thousands of american troops in poland, wiping out a chunk of them would 100% draw america into the war directly
whether they'd pursue retaliatory nuclear strikes against russia or go for a conventional invasion towards moscow i don't know, but at least one of those options would be guaranteed to happen

The burgers may get an advance warning to remove their troops, if Putin is feeling charitable. To the pollacks here, if you see a burger running towards the border, run with them.

An advance warning? If the burgers get an advance warning, they'll nuke Russia first.

And again, America can't afford to sacrifice their one true ally in the European continent, just as Germany in WW1 couldn't afford to lose Austria.

The fourth largest Germany is the wealthiest per capita by some margin, unless you count those Caribbean islands with banks for washing the charlie income.
Germany isn't even in the top 25 per capita. The highest non-bank-state country in Europe is Norway.
There is further footage of the BTR cooking off. /pol/ was in some serious cope about that one. Vehicle might still be salvageable, but it’ll need some serious repair time and a hose for anyone in the back of it
How does a Carl Gustaf with a HEAT round not shrek a BTR?

Yesterday, reservists in St. Pete were getting dialed by recruiters.

Today, in Dagestan, Mahachkala, press gangs catch 18-27 for conscription. The thing is, Dagestan is either second or the poorest region in Russia and in the older days it took a sizeable bribe to sign up with army. It was a steady job with good pay in a place of stupid high unemployment and poverty.

The calls in St. Petes are telling too, it's not Dagestan and most people there are smarter than that, especially old salts. I have family there, that's how I know. Ivan bros must be desperate for fresh meat.

now we got until 2072 for Russia to oficially admit any losses, but in practice a lot of stavka docs around 1941 are still classified ... so

Vladimir Putin has declared that all military deaths will be classified as state secrets not just in times of war but also in peace – a move that activists worry might further discourage the reporting of Russian soldiers’ deaths in Ukraine.

The Russian president has amended a decree to extend the list of state secrets to include information on casualties during special operations when war has not been declared, among other changes. Previously, the list had only forbidden (pdf) “revealing personnel losses in wartime”. He has repeatedly denied any involvement of Russian troops in a pro-Russian rebellion in Ukraine.

Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists that the changes were not connected to the conflict in Ukraine. Revealing state secrets is punishable by up to seven years in prison.

lol, sure thing, bro

And what happened to Germany after WW1?
They found themselves another partner in Japan. But that isn't relevant to this discussion.

What is relevant is that, like Germany and Austria, America only has Poland as its most reliable ally outside of Ukraine in the European continent. So they won't abandon them at all.

Sophistry, really? Russia doesn't have the capacity to match the US. While Germany was what, third or second economy before the WWI?
They couldn't match New York State or California. How the hell can Russia match the United States as a whole? Even if they combine their GDP with India and China, that won't be enough to outpace the American economy, let alone the combined might of the American/EU economy.

Wait, wait. And then what happened?

Idk, Russia post natally aborted quite a chunk of it's male population in the past three months.

They were preparing for those sanctions for almost a decade if not longer, they can weather them like a prepper can weather some bad shit happening, but no matter how many of Tim Pool's buckets you've got in your McBunker, you'll run out eventually, until then you can gloat about how you're full while everyone else is fucked, sure.

Though west's problem is it wasn't prepared at all, westerners are incredibly shortsighted, you can see it in everything western, take any startup or NFTs as an example, short term gains, zero thinking about how anything will work long term... all russia really needed to do in order to destroy the west was to do nothing and let it kill itself, which it would do sooner rather than later, probably within a decade, as a bonus it would have been in a far better position to just take over the eastern parts which were already becoming allergic to the west's shit, possibly without using any military force but hey, retard manlets always had a raging hard on for using war as something that will legitimize their status as The Dictator of whatever century they lived in.

Setting aside whether post-natal abortions are actually abortions or just child euthanasia, it still doesn't refute my point that abortions have been declining since the 2000's.

Yeah, they still happen. But much less than before.

Russia's goal for the Ukraine War was never to destroy the West, simply to prevent Ukraine from becoming part of NATO and liberating the Donbass region, as well as de-militarizing and de-nazifying the country.

Germany didn't have the resources to defeat the USSR. Neither did the USSR have the resources to defeat Germany. It would have been a stalemate. Without Lend-Lease they did not have the ability to project power. The Red Army rode to Berlin in Studebaker trucks. No Lend-Lease trucks. No Berlin. They did not have the resources to build that logistics capability in the country and field an army large enough to defeat Germany at the same time.

The USSR still had massive resources - Germany only managed to occupy the western part of the country, while the USSR still had Central Asia and Siberia, very rich regions. Among others.

Another important detail is that the USSR only fought on one front, unlike Germany.

no it isn't. america is.

For now. If they keep printing money at the rate they are right now as their only solution, we'll be seeing an economic crisis unlike we've ever seen before.

@CAPTAIN MATI

For whatever reason I can't quote or reply to your post.

What's going on big guy? Did you put me ignore or something?

Newfag, I'm newer here than you and I know this shit.
If a post is too bloated, you can't quote it directly, you have to tag the name of the poster for the system to give notice about it.
Why the fuck do you think I mentioned your gay name in the beginning of my reply?
You want to know how much patience I have for retarded people like you? Go to my profile and see the shit that people write there out of sheer ass pain.

You seem really mad. Are you mad?

You're gettting absolutely felted on your profile page, btw.

You should, like, take it easy or something. Then people wouldn't be making fun of you so much.

It's only just a game...

At this point, I am wondering if you are just a bad troll or if all the Methanol that your bootleg vodka is made of, have fried the few braincells you have?
I'm just wondering where you people are getting the idea that Russia is losing, honestly. Even the usually-corrupt American press is now begrudgingly accepting that NATO losses are unacceptable and they may have to pull their support for Ukraine.

That and I feel bad for Ukrainian women who are going to be taken advantage of by angloid scum. How can you back America and the UK when they are shamelessly pushing Ukrainian women into sex slavery? Was Hunter Biden's human trafficking network not enough?

Soviets received 17.5 million tons of Lend-Lease aid. How do you replace that? With what factory? With what staff? With what tooling? With what transportation network? With what mine? With what smelter? With what field? With what energy?

Just because they "had massive resources" doesn't mean they were in a position to exploit them. Not when there is a war on soaking up all the available capable highly-productive manpower as soldiers. They did everything they could to produce war materiel and mobilized absolutely everyone. They were still 17.5 million tons short of what they needed to reach Berlin.
