People like Ethan, who want to "ban guns" only want to take your guns. They believe they should still have a right to keep a firearm because they're not the problem. Like some hard rock band said in their lyrics unironically, "guns don't kill people, white men with guns kill people."
They only talk about gun control after a white person shoots up a school instead of every time a black nine year old murders six people in the middle of the afternoon in Chicago because it's not about guns it's about white people. They've been pushing this narrative for at least a decade already. It's hard to see it any other way.

I realize he walked it back immediately because he realized what a stupid and potentially dangerous (for him) thing that was to say, but even if we were to take his statement as a serious suggestion, it's incredibly pointless and dumb. At what point, ever, in all of history, did a politically motivated terrorist act do good things for the cause behind the act? Blowing up the NRA conference would only give the NRA more ammo and sympathy. It would destroy all of the moral high ground that gun control activists try to claim, ruin every attempt at saying they're only advocating peace or that they're against normal people having weapons of war, and shoot holes all through any claim that they only want "common sense" gun control and nobody would ever pass laws to forcibly seize guns. The outrage and sympathy generated in favor of the NRA would drown out every attempt to push back against them for at least five years, maybe a decade.
Again, I know no one was seriously suggesting it and it was just an edgy temper tantrum that immediately got walked back, but even if it wasn't a psychotic suggestion it's just really stupid. It would be catastrophic for the position of gun control. The negative effects of supposedly 'supportive' extreme behaviors like that are quite literally why the concept of a false flag exists in history.

I still can't believe how far Ethan has fallen. I know some people think he faked his anti SJW personality and also fakes his pro SJW personality but something is off about that.
The dude used to be very rational, even early Trump he didn't like Trump but when he was elected he made a Tweet about how even though he didn't want Trump that doesn't mean people should act like lunatics and liberals should not treat conservatives like lower beings for it.

well it's not even a consistient narrative because in practical application gun control is a bunch of shit that basically only impacts poor people (so, black people in many urban areas). gun melting point laws mean that guns made out of zinc alloys are illegal in many states, and while I personally would not trust my life to a $150 matchbox zinc die cast firearm, there are people out there who can't afford anything better. Those piece of shit saturday night specials are half the price of a 'real' gun but they still go bang, and the narrative is that they are only used for crimes. spoilers - the people who can't afford a $300 ruger are most likely the kind of people that these politicians wax poetic about needing to protect.

People on Youtube chase views and support and fear cancellation. If you espouse the things Youtube wants you to espouse, you get boosted by the algorithm. If you say the special words and phrases you get boosted by the mobs of twitter and little mistakes you make will be forgiven because you're an ally or a member state or whatnot. If you go against the grain, YT will age restrict your videos, cut off your monetization, delete followers, deprioritize you in results, stick 'fact check' banners delegitimizing you under your videos, and if you're still developing and go viral they'll even disable your video entirely for 'account validity' reasons. If you say the wrong things, Twitter will attack you and force trends defaming you, aggressively trying to deplatform you from every social media site, attack payment platforms you use, and try to get you fired and personally ruined every time you say anything that upsets them, and even if you go quiet for a bit they'll spend weeks digging through everything you've ever done to find things to renew the fire for.
People like Pewdiepie cannot be cancelled because he's so huge that even if you cut him off from everything he'll still be rich for the rest of his life. People like Jontron it's useless to try to cancel because he exists purely due to his long time hardcore fans that don't care even when he goes a year without posting a video. No hashtag is going to move those fans, and his online interaction is so infrequent it's incredibly hard to hit him where it hurts with just fan rage. For everyone else, though, it's way easier just to say whatever it is the overlords want them to say. They don't need to believe it, they just need to look at how the wind is blowing and adapt. You can make the best joke ever in support of Trump and people will hate you, and the dumbest and most vapid joke against Trump and people will think you're hilarious - logically, why put in the effort to swim upstream when there's a dam up there anyway when you can instead just go with the flow?
Once you start saying the insane things and defending the insane things over and over for backpats, it's only a matter of time before you start to believe the insane things. If he lost everything, I 100% believe he would be divorced by Hila. I don't think there's anything wrong with a marriage being about more than just if two people love each other—raising healthy and well-adjusted children, maintaining a family, collectively improving a household, etc. are just as important once you have children. But if Ethan Klein lost his ability to provide for his family, she would have no reason to remain with him. And she'd be happier for it.

That's a very good point and you also mention a part about the whole thing I forgot to elaborate on and said it better than I could, in California, especially upper class liberal California you are around these far leftists all the time, and the more you associate with people like that the more you feel like that behavior is normal, moral, and that most people act like it. That's why so many celebrities act like this too, they lose touch with the silent majority of working class average conservative population and think their circle is the majority while regular Americans are the minority just because they aren't around them.
