Okay so you have been here for a while so I am not sure how to really respond to this claim.
So I will try in a round about way.

To assume Phil is depressed, is to give him room to distance himself from his decisions. Phil wakes up daily, decides to beg for money from people that he knows are down in the dumps. When you see his face morph from scowl to happiness when he get's money that "depression" flies way. To bring depression into this goes too much into the realm of DasBoSchitt to me.

No Phil is not depressed. He is simply a narcissistic abuser who hungers for money at ALL costs.

Yeah, but what would be the point? Phil has proven over the last 14 years that he really has no foresight. I don't think Pigroach Impersonation would be very succesful to begin with, but the whales already open their velcro wallets for their gouty lord without any further prompting. Feels like too much effort for what he is already getting for free.

As long as he has the denthead whales, he's cool. He lost his edge at the Yakuza LAD playthrough and he's past it now. The guy wants to completely move out of gaming and just get money for vomiting uneducated opinions on the internet. I think his image and legacy are very binded to gaming and being a terrible player, but we'll see if he pulls it off. I'm pretty sure he would at least for a while, before people caught on that he's just really, really boring.

For how uneventful Phil's life has been for a while, the megathread still moves pretty fast. I honestly think it could be convenient to just start threads for commenting every new playthrough. Maybe it'd bring back the gameplay analysis we used to have. Ever since virgin chat was implemented the Chad main thread is dead for gameplay commentary, and I think some of the best content in these threads was precisely that. Either the FGC dudes getting together to take a massive nerdy shit on how Phil completely butchered Shun Di, or your very own running commentary on Sifu and Divinity 2. Additionally, it would allow us eurofags to comment on this sort of stuff, because as it is now, Phil streams in the wee hours of the morning and only Americans can keep up with that.

I mean, I'm probably too lazy to start a new thread for every ongoing playthrough, but it's just common sense that it is much, much better for archiving and research purposes. Even if it's just for those "Phil really said that?" moments, we could easily just point them to the thread rather than have to pull from memory and PigPigGo, which doesn't even work so well any more. I mean, we know the extremely gay "SQUEEZE BANANA" song happened, but I'll be fucked if I remember when or what game was Phil playing during it. If we had threads for everything, I would. When threads get huge, it's hard to sift through them if you're looking for something specific. That's just how it is objectively, it's not a matter of preference. Specialized threads are just better for archiving, period.

The mods are usually pretty cool with us opening threads for whatever, so if there are playthroughs I think could be goldusty, I'll start them and everyone else can do the same. In the long run it'll be better, and the megathread can be used for horrifying captures, begging talk and everything else, pretty much the way it is now.

It always blows my mind that Phil moved across America to one of the highest cost of living areas in the country simply because he read it did not have state income tax.

There are many states with 0 state income tax, and many between 0 and 2%, but he just saw that 0 and the fact it didn't get as snowy and he moved without any further consideration.

The funniest part of it all, though, is that despite making 300k a year back then, he didn't have enough savings to pay for cross country movers- he put it all on credit cards.

You would be hard pressed to find someone dumber with money than Phil.

Imagine a scenario where your favorite streamer has been telling you for a couple of days that he is in dire straits and that he doesn't know if he's gonna be able to make ends meet, then you donate 50 bucks because even tho you're literally disabled and can't work, you still have more financial security than your favorite streamer, then DAYS later, the same streamer tells you that he really needs money so he can go to restaurants on his day off. I swear, this shit is so fucking funny to me for some reason.

I couldn't even imagine a scenario like this because it genuinely would be hard for me to believe a person like DSP exists.
