By implementing this system you will not increase the number of good posts on the site, but rather you will increase the number of peepee poopoo posts made in hidden threads to artificially inflate one's updoot ratio. This is the cobra effect in action

TBF, schools directly taught kids to make websites with a lot of their dox on it. Teachers would tell kids that "this will make it easier for employers to find you" or something. The funniest thing to me is that, while potentially dangerous, those teachers were actually 100% right. Sites like Linkedin are perfect examples of what they were talking about.
Which is fine... for strictly professional/academic information, resume/cv, sample portfolio, and the like. The problem comes when people wrongly extrapolate that idea, and leave footprints everywhere under their real name, or accounts that can be linked back to their real name. Even worse when those footprints involve anything potentially embarrassing like sperging, fetishes, drama, nudes, or whatever.

As a pre-Web 1.0 oldfag (really more like Web 0.1 for me - 1980's BBS'es), I've always been very careful about not over-sharing in the public eye, and about having different account names everywhere. My First Cow that I followed on this site was Alison Rapp... who was guilty of exactly that, not keeping her public persona separate from her private persona, and look how that turned out for her.

I think registration should be closed for up to a year and opened for random single-day periods without announcement.
I've seen some people registering with their real names on here lately, like it's a fucking LinkedIn. Do the invited users not go through the registration page that clearly states what kind of information will be gone after if they decide to make an account?
Blame Facebook. They started this "privacy is for pussies" culture.

Even Linkedin is suffering from mean girl-itis, and I'm starting to see more and more "I'm black/gay/whatever and [CURRENT EVENT] hurts us to the core!" type shit. A lot of it is coming from HR/Recruiter Adjacent people (imagine my fucking shock); but there was even a problem where someone was mocking people on the site for having the "Looking for work" banner on their profile. Imagine just wanting to make professional connections and not being able to get away from high-school drama... only these people are literally using their full names as well as where they work when doing it.

Maybe even extend this period until the start of September honestly. Sounds extreme but if people joining April/May are this bad, imagine the Summerfag variation.

Close it indefinitely, im kinda a newfaggot so take my words as you will but the guy earlier saying just open it sporadically without warning is a good idea. too many schizos and drama hounds/idiots/trannies on the internet these days

I fucking hate websites like LinkedIn. Someone told me I need to get on there to improve my business and told me I'm an idiot for sussing out my own clientele instead of going after wokies on sites like LI. I told them to shove it up their ass, because I do great without any of that shit. I have a very, very small web footprint and it benefits me greatly.

Here's the thing about KiwiFarms and pretty much every forum like it since the dawn of the internet: you fit in or you don't. I'm not gonna psychoanalyze the types I see but it's very clear who is and isn't comfortable hanging out here. The control over the modern internet and the pigeonholing of discussions into a handful of communities is entirely against the spirit of the internet. The whole idea was to have a wide and various range of different niches to explore, and there was a necessity to engage with many different communities. If you didn't like one, you could simply leave because there were a dozen more like it with small userbases.

Now kiwifarms is about the only shoe that fits on a great deal of people, most of which are not in the spirit of the farms, and oldfags would probably say I'm not in the spirit of it either. But where else do I go? Every other non-Left space is a botnet echochamber with cavebrain discussions about fucking nothing. The farms is the only place I can hang out and not really be bothered.

I just hope it helps people understand why so many faggots leak into this place and why it isn't stopping anytime soon. I hope a balance is struck, because closed communities can become very toxic.

I do not typically state my opinions on other batches of users, because realistically I'm not perfect. The users lately though are probably by far some of the most cringe inducing that I have encountered since I have registered here. The summer fags of 2021 were brutal after the Chris Chan thing. Though, this batch from the Nick thing are just another level of ridiculous. Before encountering any type of forum or community, it is usually good to be familiar with the discussion formatting. I like coming here because of not only the information, but as well people think out their positions when discussing a topic. Social media ruined the internet.

@Un Platano You've completely missed the joke.

The faggot you quoted registered on 12/31/18, thereby just barely making the proposed 1/1/19 deadline (why do you think he specifically chose that date?), and his updoot:post ratio was just a little over 17:1 before that post, hence why he picked an oddly specific number like 17. He also fucked up because his ratio actually went under 17:1 right after he posted that (should've gone with 16:1, my nigger) and as of me typing this, he still needs +8 more in reaction points to make up the deficit.

One retard fails to make a joke and it flies over another retard's head, while all the other retards circlejerk over how awesum their shitty little community is.

I really need to get off this shithole and get a life.

Many zoomers are taught NOT to use infosec and leave a strong internet trail to show accountability and show who you are to employers. Many school projects force you to dox yourself on publically accessable pages. They are not taught infosec at all. I was not, I learned it myself because I'm not retarded.
This is the fucked up truth. I've heard several people (of varied ages) go on about how a lack of social media presence looks "suspicious" to employers. I really doubt any employer worth having would decline you a contract for this reason.

I believe that boomers and zoomers alike are simply unable to see how the online world is fundamentally different from the offline. Boomers because they don't know internet, and zoomers because they're too immersed in it.
