President Joe Biden on Tuesday said that the United States will impose sanctions “far beyond” the ones that the United States imposed in 2014 following the annexation of the Crimean peninsula.

“This is the beginning of a Russian invasion of Ukraine,” Biden said in a White House speech, signaling a shift in his administration’s position. “We will continue to escalate sanctions if Russia escalates,” he added.

Russian elites and their family members will also soon face sanctions, Biden said, adding that “Russia will pay an even steeper price” if Moscow decides to push forward into Ukraine. Two Russian banks and Russian sovereign debt will also be sanctioned, he said.

Also in his speech, Biden said he would send more U.S. troops to the Baltic states as a defensive measure to strengthen NATO’s position in the area.

Russia shares a border with Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.

A day earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered troops to go into the separatist Donetsk and Lugansk regions in eastern Ukraine after a lengthy speech in which he recognized the two regions’ independence.

Western powers decried the move and began to slap sanctions on certain Russian individuals, while Germany announced it would halt plans to go ahead with the Russia-to-Germany Nord Stream 2 pipeline.

At home, Biden is facing bipartisan pressure to take more extensive actions against Russia following Putin’s decision. However, a recent poll showed that a majority of Americans believe that sending troops to Ukraine is a “bad idea,” and a slim minority believes it’s a good one.

All 27 European Union countries unanimously agreed on an initial list of sanctions targeting Russian authorities, said French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, and EU foreign affairs head Josep Borell claimed the package “will hurt Russia … a lot.”

Earlier Tuesday, Borell asserted that Russian troops have already entered the Donbas region, which comprises Donetsk and Lugansk, which are under the control of pro-Russia groups since 2014.

And on Tuesday, the Russian Parliament approved a Putin-back plan to use military force outside of Russia’s borders as Putin further said that Russia confirmed it would recognize the expanded borders of Lugansk and Donetsk.

“We recognized the states,” the Russian president said. “That means we recognized all of their fundamental documents, including the constitution, where it is written that their [borders] are the territories at the time the two regions were part of Ukraine.”

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Putin said that Ukraine is “not interested in peaceful solutions” and that “every day, they are amassing troops in the Donbas.”

Meanwhile, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday morning again downplayed the prospect of a Russian invasion and proclaimed: “There will be no war.”

“There will not be an all-out war against Ukraine, and there will not be a broad escalation from Russia. If there is, then we will put Ukraine on a war footing,” he said in a televised address.

The White House began to signal that they would shift their own position on whether it’s the start of an invasion.

“We think this is, yes, the beginning of an invasion, Russia’s latest invasion into Ukraine,” said Jon Finer, the White House deputy national security adviser in public remarks. “An invasion is an invasion and that is what is underway.”

For weeks, Western governments have been claiming Moscow would invade its neighbor after Russia gathered some 150,000 troops along the countries’ borders. They alleged that the Kremlin would attempt to come up with a pretext to attack, while some officials on Monday said Putin’s speech recognizing the two regions was just that.

But Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin told reporters Tuesday that Russia’s “latest invasion” of Ukraine is threatening stability in the region, but he asserted that Putin can “still avoid a full blown, tragic war of choice.”

I wonder how many of these pics are blackmail pics taken to ensure the bottoms in question don't say or do anything those taking the pictures might not like
not unheard of

“When I was standing on duty, two bullies came up to me and shoved me into the stockroom, a soldier serving at one of Moscow’s military units recollects. "They raped me there in turn. It was very painful and revolting. It didn’t take them much time to finish, but the next day I started noticing other soldiers giving me strange looks. I instantly realized that those bastards let everyone know what they had done to me. An officer came up to me one day and said to me point-blank: “Tomorrow you will to serve two clients.” I knew that if I said “no” then I would spend my last days spitting blood. But still, I told him “no.” When the officer heard that, he pulled out pictures of me being raped in the stockroom. “If you don’t serve the clients, you mother will see these pictures,” said he. I was forced into prostitution,” the soldier said.

Although, those pictures or collages of pictures does make you look like a degenerate yourself. Why do you even have them?
>"why do you have pictures that prove that gay rape and homoerotic behavior is extremely common in the Russian military? You must be gay if you have these pictures!"
>"IF YOU KEEP ZE PICTURES OF US KILLING ZE JEWS YOU MUST BE AN ANTI SEMITE!"

lmao imagine this being used as a legal defense in the nuremburg trials

Sir, this isn't the Nuremburg Trials.

can you just stop taking the vatniks bait for once holy shit
thread becomes borderline unreadable with all this retardation
At this point, I'm all for the vatniks getting threadbanned at this point. They never have anything intelligent to say, nor do they ever post any actual news articles, which is the purpose of this thread. You can make argument that they are basically derailing the thread.

What the fuck is this projection? I have no stake in your argument, you retarded mongoloid. Don't post faggot shit, faggot.

The vatnik keeps ranting that based putin is driving out the trannies and faggots from ukraine, but the fact is, russian army "discipline" is built entirely on faggotry-as-hazing and man rape. Posting that particular collection of homo shit is simply reminding him of who he supports.

if you think I have a large collection of gay porn you should see what your commanding officers keep. Unless you're an unenlisted chickenhawk of course, that would be pretty embarrassing wouldn't it
Why would any straight man have any gay porn on their computer, unless you're an autogynephile that got in when the trannyfuckers in the Pentagon decided they needed fresh man ass; of course, that would be pretty embarrassing, wouldn't it? Especially since they're all over the Ukraine "training" and providing "advice".

lmao fag

Amazing reasoning, but I don't think Russia supports these rapists as a nation - she just can't do anything about it, because she's ruled by corrupt scum. This isn't like the West at all, which promotes faggotry like LGBTQ+ or whatever the fuck.

Are you a moron or something? I haven't been in this tread in a long time - I thought I could get some info, but it's all the same shit. Why the hell would I bring up my comments from another thread with you, you fucking spick?

You heard it here, null must be gay due to saving and posting images of Nick Fuentes browsing tranny porn.

Hey, retard - I acknowledge that Russia is a shithole. I don't like Russia - I support Russia, because I want a multi-polar world, a world not dominated by the West. Is that so fucking hard for you to comprehend? It's not whataboutism, either, you fucking moron, I'm pointing out the blatant hypocrisy.

Could be difficult, since this thread is dominated by a pro-Ukraine circlejerk. Who knows what your mental state is, you fucking coomer.

Apples and oranges, learn the difference: Null is posting for informational purposes, the other is doing so in an autistic tardrage because he/xe disagrees with certain posters, and believes it will cause them to tardrage too. In reality all he accomplished was being mocked for posting his gay porno collection.

Denys Davydov, the 737 pilot turned vlogger, on the 44 mile / 70 km rocket artillery that Pres Biden or his handlers have actioned in lieu of anything longer. Assesses the rocket system as more than sufficient ''enough for fighting on the battlefield' but supply lines from Russia and Crimea and Russia. Sees it as adequate for what Ukraine wants to do, and able to reach somewhere like Belgorod, if needed, 'which he sees as a matter of time' but more realistically allows a good ranged attack. He had in an earlier video been quite frustrated. He sees very little today change today in the field. After taking Lyman Russia cannot cross the Dnipro river. He wonders why they couldn't just push from Izum which they control and the land flat and fairly unobstructed by geography (presumably Ukrainian forces have position there, and probably this taking of Lyman was more Putin channelling Nicholas II by playing amateur general). Russia has c. 40% of Sievrodonetsk. Ukraine pulled back to an industrial area, and Russia moved back a little. An industrial area could be seen as more defensive like Mariupol. Ukraine has the higher ground Lysychansk so can use artillery against RU forces. Attributes this strategic height as a possible reason for a small RU withdrawal. Other things like RU taking back a small area to the east of Pokrovske, the admin center of Pokrovske raion plus some tiny changes further south like the UA liberation of Davydiv Brid, Khersonska oblast, also little Ivanika taken. Notes Kramatorsk is close enough for the new MLRS system. He sees hope in longer range UA artillery systems. His posts are not those robo-voiced weirdo staff that makes wild claims, And while anyone can play with the Deepstatemap.live map timelines, he brings some local knowledge to bear and doesn't hide from RU gains.

While the incursions into Russia were possibly instances of accidents or arson to cover corruption done with Russian helicopters or some disenchanted soldier, or Ukraine (they won't say) presumably the US administration doesn't want some hotheat to make it a regular thing. There is prudence but there seems the apparent idea that only Russia can do the invading or raids (like those regular attacks into Sumy oblast that border guards have repelled. Ukraine might will try to hit the canal bringing water into Crimea (like the only partly working North Crimean canal, surely one notable local strategic motivation for the calendar as Ukraine could cut it). Russia patently thinks so. Early in the war there was no amateur hour like around Kyiv, although the relatively dense rail network there surely helped as rail is key to Russian advances. If this war is a guide, they seemed a bit lost early in the war without it, with the existing 2014 territory also very helpful.
