Bankruptcy protects your house, IIRC. Might have been locking some cash up while she still could.

Its more complicated than that. Judges dont like giving primary residences up and making someone homeless unless its an eviction judge who has to do it everyday. Even bankruptcy only protects so much money of a home, and court judgements are not usually dispelled by bankruptcy.

Johnny Depp could probably get a lien on the house if he wanted. (But not evict her from it)
