Lol, relatable. Society is apparently capable of understanding the necessity of putting an age restriction on LASIK because fucking around with an undeveloped body is asking for trouble, but not with SRS and HRT evidently.

They love focusing on part C, yet forget the other conditions such as sterilizations and the deliberate taking away of children from one group to another. No matter what hobbies they have, no matter what they say, how they look or what surgeries they get, etc. If you see a FTM, you'll never see view them as anything but a weird looking woman LARPing.

The difference between FTMs and MTFs is that FTMs will understand this reality very quickly, especially since real men feel no need to kiss their ass or treat them as anything special (as you mentioned in your post). They will go fuck off to a bathroom to cry about it on reddit. Meanwhile, MFTs will take a compliment (likely given under duress or pity) and get a euphoria boner, thinking it's "proof" they've finally been accepted by the uterus havers.

When I looked into it myself a couple of years ago, I decided to stick with the glasses, because I have dry eyes in the winter from heated air and LASIK apparently makes dryness symptoms way worse. I know that I saw implantable contact lenses as an alternative when I was looking around, but like I said, just ended up accepting the glasses. I don't know if the contact lens one is better, I didn't look into it too much, but it seemed to be a good alternative for people with dry eyes at least.

And to the others in the thread, the risks are not extreme, but the LASIK industry is notorious for having a lot of fly-by-night operations because the procedure is largely computer controlled so is more a matter of upfront cost than skill. There are no requirements for what surgeons need to disclose, and no industry standards on what information on risks to give to clients. There's definitely a lot of people who are helped by it, but it is absolutely true that the industry downplays negative outcomes and complications and pretends they don't exist.

If you are going to do it, just make sure you choose a surgeon who's willing to go through risk factors and really check to make sure you are a good candidate for it. Do not just trust that the closest provider will actually check to make sure you aren't at risk of complications.
