A biologically male doctor who identifies as a transgender woman and has performed thousands of sex change procedures openly admitted to performing a surgery sculpting a vagina on a 16-year-old.
Dr. Marci Bowers discussed performing the irreversible procedures during an interview with The Daily Wire’s Matt Walsh.
“What’s the youngest patient that you’ve operated on,” Walsh asked Bowers in the interview, featured in The Daily Wire’s documentary “What Is A Woman? One Man’s Journey To Answer The Question Of A Generation.”
“The youngest patient I’ve done vaginoplasty on is age 16,” Bowers responded.
Walsh worried that minors would not “understand enough about themselves” or be “neurologically developed enough yet to make permanent life-altering decisions.”
Bowers rejected this idea, saying, “Absolutely not.”
In a vaginoplasty, the surgeon uses skin from the penis and scrotum to attempt to create an inner and outer labia of the vagina, makes a new opening for the urethra so the patient can urinate, and uses tissue from the patient’s foreskin to make an opening of the faux vagina.
In response to requests for comment from The Daily Wire regarding the 16-year-old patient whose genitals Bowers operated on, Bowers critiqued the use of the phrase “biologically male,” saying that it shows “anti-trans bias.”
“Gender identity is established early and is one of the most immutable core aspects of identity— probably edited out in their biased reporting,” Bowers said, before apparently addressing The Daily Wire’s question on whether minors should have the ability to make such an irreversible decision. “Consent means autonomy to make personal decisions about one’s body whether it is about FGC, male circumcision, intersex surgery or transgender treatment.”
According to the surgeon’s website, Bowers is a biological male who now identifies as a woman and has performed more than 2,250 male-to-female vaginoplasties and 3,900 “gender affirming surgeries overall.” It describes Bowers as a “pioneer in the field of Gender Affirmation Surgery,” noting that the doctor studied under the “Father of Transgender Surgery,” Dr. Stanley Biber, who died in 2006.
“Nothing they said made any sense,” Walsh said of his conversations with those interviewed for his documentary. “Their arguments collapsed, not with hammer blows or a hard push, but with soft questions, because the core of gender ideology is hollow.”
Transgender advocacy and discussions are increasingly raising concerns as activists call for unquestioning affirmations of those who identify as another sex or gender.
The Biden administration went so far as to say in messaging released in late March that “early gender-affirming care,” hormone treatment, and affirmations are “crucial” for the health of kids and teens who identify as transgender and nonbinary.
Gender-affirming care is a phrase used by transgender activists and media to mask the more grisly sounding transgender top and bottom surgeries, including removing a biological women’s breasts, removing a biological man’s genitals, sculpting a fake penis on a biological woman, facial feminization or facial masculinization, and more.
Social affirmation, puberty blockers, and hormones also fall under the “gender-affirming care” umbrella.
“For transgender and nonbinary children and adolescents, early gender-affirming care is crucial to overall health and well-being as it allows the child or adolescent to focus on social transitions and can increase their confidence while navigating the healthcare system,” the White House messaging said.
Transgender surgeries, hormones, and affirmations are important, the White House claimed, because these procedures have been “shown to increase positive outcomes for transgender and nonbinary children and adolescents”
Commentators, lawmakers, people who identify as transgender, and people who formerly attempted transitions have expressed grave concerns about encouraging children or young people to explore transitions of any kind.
