but really, there's only a lot to do if you still got story quests to do that unlock stuff like events, and those are mostly dialog. just put them on auto and lift or do chores while they run like a movie in the background. that's like 1-2 hours per patch every 6 weeks.
otherwise it's 20 minutes per day to burn resin and do commissions, add an extra hour for the weekly battlepass stuff (which is mostly part of burning resin tho). events usually run for like 2 weeks, the enkanomiya one ran for 40! days - plenty of time to take it slow. you just want to focus on (unlocking) them because they're timed and give a good chunk of primos (and they're the first rewards, so can be done easily even as f2p), plus a free char/weapon. anything else you can do whenever you feel like it.
all that gives you steady, albeit slow, supply of primos to rolls for stuff. you won't get every char every banner, but unless you whale hard you'll never have every c6 5* with it's r5 weapon anyway, trying to be a completionist is a fool's errand in gatcha, and genshin at least doesn't even require it (like I said events are very frontloaded, and abyss is not really worth it unless you wanna sweatlord it)
just roll responsibly, have some patience (fuck fomo, there will be reruns), and play it mostly on the side (not as "main game" expecting to spend 5 hours each day) and you'll be fine. it's a mobile game, you could even do that stuff while taking a shit or on your way to work.
as for the mat/artifact grind:
without going full tryhard and saying "people are playing it wrong", there are certainly better and worse ways to go about it. to keep it short:
1. genshin has a lot of interlocking progression. what do you need to level a char? bosses for drops, domains for talents, leylines for exp/mora (unless you already got those from events and other places like the battlepass). what does the battlepass want you to do each week? bosses, domains, talents. notice something?
2. fuck artifacts. there are like 3 chars that "need" a specific set for a nice bump, but all of those are support sets (VV, TOTM, OHC). meaning stats mean fuck all, the set bonus doesn't change, so can even run with purple. there's zero point in grinding your ass off for a char you pull out for 2 seconds to use it's elemental skill before you swap again. for anyone else you already got 5 effective sets while doing bosses. gladiator/wanderer for DDs, exile/instructor/berserker for support. you get dozens of those from doing the bosses mentioned in 1, use them, because even a good roll on those will beat a shit roll on a "better" artifact or not having one at all - and you can always put them into another artifact later for 80% of it's exp. literally no reason not to use them besides falling for the the "5* god roll BIS meme".
3. chars > all. you can move weapons and artifacts around, not so much with chars. and more importantly char progression is MUCH less RNG. talent domains for example have a base line of 2green/2blue each domain, so you'll always know what you get, sometimes you just get more. maxing talents up to 9 is also a permanent and assured increase compared to layers of artifact RNG.
or to put it in numbers: iirc it costs 2200 resin to get a char to 80 and all talents to 6, at that point the char can do 98% of all content. you get 180 resin per day, it's easy to do the math (and that doesn't include event rewards and other sources like fragmented resin). you can also cut the time for domains in half by using condensed resin (mobs don't drop shit anyway compared to leylines, so why bother? just need to do enough for the BP).
4. artifacts are endgame, because at some point there will be literally nothing else to spend resin on, since every other progression has an end point. all my chars are fully ascended (including lisa and aloy), all talents at least 8, all weapons at least lvl80 - and that is with me just playing casually for 20 minutes a day. I simply skipped the artifact shit almost completely besides TOTM for geo ceo and OHC for fishbarb, and those are half purple just to get the complete set bonus.
