Chantal's version of her father is he knocked her 17 year old mom up then bounced when she was a baby. He struggled with food and used to be fatter. He was an alcoholic. He doesn't have much to do with her and has a new family with a couple of sons.

As far as I can see, Jean-Paul Sarault's ancestors have been in the Southwestern Quebec area, mostly in the Chateauguay Valley and along the Ottawa River from Montreal to Gatineau, since they came over from France in the mid-1600s. So as much as the Acadian thing would be amusing, it looks unlikely. (BTW, this has been an unpleasant genealogical search for me; I fear we may have common ancestors.)

I think that is one of 3 versions. A second version involves Kim not allowing him in her life due to alcoholism. Whether or not Chantal approves of this decision varies. Sometimes Kim was wrong and sometimes Chinny thinks it was smart. The third version has him present and having some sort of visitation until Chin was at least 5 or 6 because he apparently accidentally showed her and a friend porn.

I fully expect a fourth version to emerge in honor of pride month where he rejected her because one of her 12 personalities is half gay Mondays and Tuesdays and sometimes Wednesdays but with limited hours.
