Yukishiro Mahiru and Asuka Hina just announced they're going to be privating and cancelling their ASMR streams temporarily because of changes in Youtube regulations, pending further deliberation from management.

Not sure exactly what the change is, but people are speculating it's because Youtube doesn't allow ASMR depicting minors and both these vtubers play JKs.

EDIT: Masaru and Onomachi Haruka also affected.
Noticed this last night as I listen to Mahimahi and Haruka. It's a cruel world that the first people affected are the ones who DON'T do the invasive ear licking crap.

So clarify me this: Salome subs & viewers are at least 95% japanese? or a considerable part of them are westerners? (like korone % of westeners)
I think Salome has one of the more sizeable Western fanbases in NijiJP but I'm still going to go out on a limb and say that it's <5% of the total. She's made about $50K during streams, and her Free Chat has just been carpet-bombed with an additional $10K and I'd say 98% of donations are in Yen. Not even other Asian currency.

Bit of topic but flamenco was curious about sub loss Nyanners got after the bf stuff ? What was your source on that?

Her desuwa remind me of that desu girl meme. That's probably why she's great! lol
You mean suiseiseki?
I don't really see how she could remind you of her.
Solomes "Desuwa" has a clear larpy sound whereas the other girl sounds genuinely retarded.

I was partially just being facetious, but here you go.

It can mostly be attributed to lack of streams, even though she rarely streams on her good months too. I just found it funny how the constant decline occurred a few days after announcing her bf, but correlation isn't causation.

how did she do it?

never knew the OJOU-SAMA character archetype was this popular.
It's not. A foul-mouthed yankie Kansai hick pretending to be prim and proper, however, is disgustingly engrossing to sit and watch; this is to say nothing of how difficult it actually must be to provide dense one-hour streams 5-7 days a week in that voice.

That's a pretty important thing to note; her character isn't being royalty, it's being a basement-dweller from hicktown (or I guess hick region?) that's RPing royalty. It adds a gap to her character that I think a lot of Japanese would find endearing, it might even arguably be part of why some people feel she reminds them of "the old/wackier Nijisanji".

Vtubing has been diluted to basically become normal streaming but with an avatar. People shit on the idol- and kayfabe-aspects of vtubing, but that's what made it stand out from normal streaming as far as I'm concerned. Now those aspects are more or less dying out while we've gotten used to the avatars, so the novelty has worn off almost completely. That's why Salome feels refreshing imo. She's very clearly playing a character and sticking to it, and I think people miss that to some degree. I don't care about how much fun Nina had at a club with the boys or about Finana's sex toys. The vtubing magic isn't there at all with these people. Salome brings me back to the golden days.

On the one hand, this is neat!

On the other, Vshojo's auditions ended last September and opening a whole new branch before wrapping that up seems a little... the vibe feels off?
Unless I'm missing something, I don't see any indication of JP members being recruited.

Kagura Nana is working as an illustrator on a project. She hasn't been scouted by them to become a member.

But, but people are saying Kayfabe are not important, especially so for Niji. So which is which now?

Haachama celebrates her 4th anniversary with 4 battles in 1 hour:
Nene - dancing
Mumei - english
Azki - singing
Noel - comedy

Yeah, she clarified it in an english tweet

But I checked her stats since I was curious: she has over 1.9 million subs on billibilli but streams as little as on her youtube channel (313k subs). Crazy

It's a bit odd that the examples you chose from Nina and Finana aren't even examples of breaking character and are both things that Solome could do as well without breaking her character.

Solomes character is just "a person pretending to be an ojousama" that's about as thin and transparent as a character setting can get because it's literally what she as a person is doing as well. that "person pretending to be an ojousama" could still say..... own sex toys, or go out to the club with friends, and it wouldn't break her character setting.
Your issue here seems to be more just some topics you don't want to hear about, or some boundaries you'd rather not see crossed, general content boundaries on "what's acceptable to talk about"

Which is fine and all I'm personally filtered by feesh's coomer behavior as well (and just as often if she's not doing the coomer shtick herself her chat is egging it on till it comes up anyway) it's just not my cup of tea for what I'm looking for in entertainment. But none of that is a matter of kayfabe or character breaking Solome just has a different personality from Finana and Nina.

I think Finana's behavior is charming in a way that most of VShojo's doesn't. Like, with Veibae and the others, they're very clearly thots who think peepeepoopoo humor appeals to the lowest common denominator. Finana though, she just has no filter. She'll just say that shit with no buildup because she's hiding behind an avatar and thinks it's fine to talk about that stuff. It's refreshingly sincere coming off of other Vtubers who pull the coomer shit. Like that time she called General Morden in Metal Slug "Hitler". Any other Youtuber would be afraid to even mention the name but she just says that because she's reactive like that (though I imagine the others told her not to mention Nazis or Hitler in fear of Susan).

Nina is a weird pick to me anyway considering her biggest filter was initially that she was leaning into the mommy kayfabe too hard and needed to relax it a bit. Summing up Salome's success as simply upholding a character severely undermines everything else she's doing.

Kanae talked a little bit about her.

Turns out that was what I wanted all along, but what do I know. I mostly watch Nihmune these days.

Remember when in sci-fi we thought people were going to get artificial partners? I feel like that's gradually coming true with VTubing, but back-to-front. People want intimacy more than anything else; the Kizuna Ai style of prerecorded and heavily produced content gave way to streaming style because even though it's less "good", it feels more like a real social connection. The more people move away from playing a character and just talk about their life, the more true that becomes. I honestly find the more popular VTubers much less interesting to watch because the chat moves too fast and there's so little chance of them responding to anything you say, you might as well just watch the VODs/clips. If anything that makes me more hopeful that the future won't just be a few big agencies and big superstars.

So basically you want a Parasocial thing, got it. Can I recommend you to watch this guy called Vox Akuma?
