Vtubing has been diluted to basically become normal streaming but with an avatar. People shit on the idol- and kayfabe-aspects of vtubing, but that's what made it stand out from normal streaming as far as I'm concerned. Now those aspects are more or less dying out while we've gotten used to the avatars, so the novelty has worn off almost completely. That's why Salome feels refreshing imo. She's very clearly playing a character and sticking to it, and I think people miss that to some degree. I don't care about how much fun Nina had at a club with the boys or about Finana's sex toys. The vtubing magic isn't there at all with these people. Salome brings me back to the golden days.

What was her kayfabe with the mask? Cuz she definitely still plays a character. I don't see what there is to expand her kayfabe as a 'cleaner' for the mob. Especially when said mob is supposed to be portrayed as a bunch of bumbling failures.

There is a major difference between Parasocial Interaction and Parasocial Relationship and that key difference is delusion. It's perfectly fine to interact in chat as if you're on colloquial terms with them, and it feels good when they respond to it or laugh at the comment. Its perfectly fine with me if you want to hurl $1,000 a day at an anime girl as long as you aren't hurting anyone and no one is suffering for it - especially yourself.

Nari Yang, formerly of Nijisanji KR, has surpassed 100K subs and earned 10K+ subs in the last day for doing long streams where she draws all of the Niji members. Hyakumantenbara Salome promoted her stream on her Twitter which caused more people to flood in and she started crying.

Also, Fulgur and Millie's adventures in Eorzea resumes in a little over an hour.

She's not constantly screaming or playing up for the audience or acting lewd. She's just chill, plays the games she wants to play instead of doing the big releases and seems like a genuinely nice person behind the scenes.

Hope her 1 million merch is good if they're going to do it. I'll definitely be picking it up again.
