Did his autism make him do that or did his retardation make him mix up the numbers five and two? Looking at the other letters I see he does this consistently so it's probably the former. My thoughts on the mental hospital arc is the extended stay in the jail is bothering him to no end.

If you think about it, in his previous incarceration, he has only spent a weekend in jail after his macing incident. He seems to think he will be sent home where he can deal with it at a later time.

We saw in his September court appearance that he wanted to go home and "get his stuff". He has said in subsequent letters that he expected to be sent home at the next court hearing in February. When that did not happen, he must have chimped out.

His odd behaviour before the chimpout would have had the guards on edge, so whatever happened during the meltdown was enough to get them to send him to the mental hospital. (I have heard some tales on the extreme measures guards might go to if a inmate even utters that he wants to kill himself, for example)

So as for this latest chimpout that Chris has alluded to that happened at the end of this stay at the puzzle factory? For me, the reason only has one conclusion: he learned he was being sent back to the jailhouse, and not being sent home.

This is just anecdotal, but I knew a tard growing up who acted exactly like how you're describing Chris here. They were reasonably well behaved in the moment, but if you said they were going somewhere they didn't want to, or worse, that theyweren't going to the place you said they would, they would chimp out for literal hours and break everything in sight. They weren't even a bad kid otherwise, it was just how their 'tism handled anything that defied their internal logic.

I wonder if Chris' lawyer said something off-hand about maybe being out by x date. For someone missing a few puzzle pieces, a comment like that can become a fixation and a promise.

I used Google to find out if information released by Chris (the name of a woman and "1 Hickory") was connected to Western State Hospital. That's all. Until today, his stay at the looney bin was only speculation.

No Chris does that from time to time out of some sonic curse, like when he writes a backwards name etc when he uses a backwards letter it normally means something to him if nobody else and it's normally a bad thing. Backwards spelling is bad but backwards and mixed up is worse etc.

I don't think she's just a nurse. She's listed as being among the 10% of higher paid employees. She probably supervised whatever burly dudes subdued Chris. Even her pay is only $54K, but that's reasonably good for rural Virginia in one of these thankless jobs. (Highest paid is about $250,000 and that is the person who runs the place, although data is from 2018 and she may be in a higher position now.)
