I rationalized that it was mostly just a petite thing, and even if it was a pedo thing, it'd be better if pedos were jerking off to drawings than real kids.

I can now promise you, with 100% certainty, after dealing with 8chan and 9chan, that the users who post on /loli/ are the same ones spamming child porn on /b/ and trying to set up /cutegirls/.

Japanese art and hentai is all sort of ambiguous - they love to draw prepubescent girls and call them 17 years old - but anyone deliberately seeking out lolicon specifically is sexually attracted to the bodies of underdeveloped girls. I remember there was an artist named Russell(?) who traced real child pornography into his lolicon art and he got arrested for it. I still see those images get posted around on 4chan to this day, because the people posting it know what they are doing.

It's really not up for debate as far as I'm concerned. Lolicon has basically just become a dog whistle for pedophiles to find each other, as demonstrated with this guy using the Steam ID lolilk0n posting pictures of children on his profile and hanging out in pedophile groups to make friends.

Recent conversation here made me think. It's been more or less reasonably proven that in a vacuum, human sexuality is remarkably malleable. The dissonance between physical arousal and mental investment is well understood. There's a reason 'but she had orgasms, so it wasn't rape' isn't a defense in court.

I'm privileged to know a lot of older people who lived before the internet was ever a thing, and lived fairly rural lives. I obviously haven't conducted any tests, but I'm convinced that if you showed them basically any image the average internet basement dweller would seek out for the purposes of titillation, they'd not only not be aroused by it, but be totally uncomprehending of why anyone would be aroused by it. Their brains simply don't have the neurological connections to associate a weird 3D image of a shemale with a horsecock or blood elf with an ass the size of a literal dumptruck with the concept of sexual pleasure.

Meanwhile, here online, everyone I know, even if they were explicitly not into such things and never willingly sought them out, would instantly understand that it's porn, and that somebody is probably jerking to it right now. It'd be a joke, people would say stupid things about it, they'd mock the artist, or something like that.

I feel like the whole 'is loli child porn' debate that endlessly rages back and forth touches on something relating to this, which is how normalized the concept of a child being depicted as an object of sexual desire has become. A lot of hardliners in this very thread view any depiction of underage characters to be a gateway to CP, just by the artstyle alone, even if there is no porn or explicit content involved. But take the average clothed loli picture back to the people I mentioned earlier, and they'd almost certainly go 'oh wow, that's adorable!' and think nothing more of it. The idea that somebody would draw porn with such an art style, and that there would be a demand for it, simply wouldn't register with them unless pointed out.

It depresses me that our civilization has become so wretchedly corrupt, and sexual content has become so ubiquitous in the online space, that our brains have been chemically conditioned to proactively search for the lewd elements of any visual media we're presented with, rather than first assume an innocent context until proven otherwise. I just want to go back to a time when you could enjoy cute stuff because it's cute, without thinking to myself 'hey, I wonder what degeneracy is lurking beneath the surface here'.

It's kinda like how before joining KF, I used to be able to watch loads of channels on Youtube with an uncritical eye, just passively enjoying content I found fun. Now every time I get into any channel, I always feel I have to check here to see if they have a thread, or check their twitter to see if they have a rainbow banner or are screaming about how all white people need to die.
