Stop pre-ordering video games :jacepout: . At least wait a little bit to know more about MP.

No.

Do not forget: the standard edition price has bumped up to $70. Really, Activision?
I think we've finally hit $70 as being the new price for a AAA game. I believe Gran Turismo 7 is $70 too for the basic edition.

Just a heads up for anyone who cares, Modern Warfare II is going to be shown off on Summer Game Fest in about an hour, rumors going around that they're gonna show off a bit of gameplay for the campaign.
Link to the YouTube steam.

Gameplay of the campaign was released, and it looks pretty decent in my opinion.
Link to the video:

And if you don't want to watch 7 minutes of the usual on rails gameplay, I'll point out some details that may or may not matter.

The mission that was showcased was Operation: Dark Water, it seems to be a mix of The Only Easy Day Was Yesterday from classic MW2 and Crew Expendable from CoD 4. You play as Soap and the mission first opens up on TF141 riding up to an oil rig that seems to have some kind of missile on it. After you clear out the oil rig you find out that the controls of the missile are on a cargo ship not far from the rig, so you hop on a boat and clear out the ship. After all that action, the gameplay ends right at a door breach on the cargo ship.

Some details that I noticed...

The suppressed gunshots are super bass-y compared to MW19 and the general sound design is still excellent. Explosions are loud and the recoil seems to be more like MW19.

The first weapon shown off is the Fennec, AKA the ripoff Vector.

The secondary weapon seems to be a SCAR, the reloading animation is different from MW19, where the character pulls back the bolt instead of pressing the bolt release.

When the gameplay gets to the cargo ship, the SCAR is replaced with an M1014, which was not in MW19, so that's a confirmed new weapon.

That's all really worth pointing out imo.

Edit
I like these comments from big CoD channels with pretty much the same exact format, besides Nemsk.
"WOW, GAME LOOKS GOOD [FIRE EMOJI]"

I'll wait for notEightThoughts and Blame Truth's reactions tbh, but it's still funny to see the paid shills every year claim that "this time it's the best CoD ever".

Will be observing this one to see what they do with vehicles, though I'm not much of a fan of killstreaks.
Same here. I prefer the scorestreaks. I hope they bring back the ability to ping enemies like in Cold War, especially if they add vehicles. Ground War (?) in MW2019 was unplayable because of the lack of ping/spotting.

In wake of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the storyline for MW3 makes even less sense and fucks up the storyline for MW2 as well.

Biden warned Zelensky a week before the invasion for the buildup and yet in the game, well we know they tricked a satellite and snuck in a sneak attack during MW2.

However with MW3, apparently they managed to take over all of Europe and then made it to America, while somehow all the early warning systems just failed, like they couldn't use the power of the human eye and a phone call to warn someone at the Pentagon.

You have to remember that this is Call of Duty, none of this shit makes sense or really matters. Fucking price fires a nuke at the US and detonates it in space so the EMP hits which somehow helps the US instead of crippling them entirely.

It's even weirder than that, I recently replayed MW3 the other day and the Russian invasion of Europe happens after they get pushed out of the US. So that means they messed with the satellite and snuck an entire invasion force by air over Europe and the Atlantic without being spotted (and many subs and ships by water as well), established a supply line to keep their massive invasion force going and somehow weren't interfered with by all of the US's allies in Europe/NATO (and their own military bases all over Europe), eventually lost and got pushed out of the US, then they did a big gas attack in multiple cities in multiple countries in Europe and invaded all of them at once. The campaigns are super fun but they definitely make no sense lol.

That also somehow didn't trigger the alert system in the US that a nuke is flying straight at them from Russia and they never retaliate with nukes back at Russia, I guess Shepard somehow convinced the Pentagon to not worry about the nuke flying at the capital of the country.

As much as I love the OG MW trilogy, you can tell they stopped caring about making sense after the first one.

No Russian and the entire plot of MW2 really kind of falls apart if you think about it for more than 5 seconds. Russia just immediately launches an invasion of America because an American was in Makarov's group. This is despite Makarov, who was a high-ranking member of a high-profile Russian terrorist organization at the time (IIRC he was literally Zakhaev's protege), walking around the airport in broad daylight without even attempting to hide his face. No one saw him and thought the whole thing was fishy? I guess they didn't bother to check the security camera footage or anything either. Or attempt to do any research or communication whatsoever.

So yes, they pretty much went full Michael Bay and cared more about making cool moments than logical ones. But in the end it was fun, so it still worked out.

Considering how Russian responded to one mass shooting with a full scale invasion, the game (possibly unintentionally) implies that Russia was just looking for any excuse, even if it was obvious bait.

Didn't they find out that Pivate Allen was apart of the CIA because they found an ID on his corpse? If I'm right then it makes even less sense that a fucking glowie would have his ID on him while committing a terrorist attack in Russia... Even if that's more believable than anything else in the game based on how retarded alphabet agencies are these days.

Probably was Shepard's doing, since he wanted the war to kick off so he can get more funds and power. Also kinda funny how they send in Allen of all people to be their mole in the terrorist group, who's what, in his 20s and only a Private First Class?

Just checked and yes he's only 21/22 lmao:

I always theorized that Marakov played Shepard into initiating WW3. He knew that Pvt. Allen was a mole from the beginning. He even knew where Shepard was located at the end of the game.

No Russian was purely for spectacle. No way that all that footage wouldn't accurately pin Marakov for that act, even if Russia just wanted to invade the US.

They never planned on Modern Warfare being a trilogy, Activision saw the money and told them to keep it going I'm pretty sure.

IIRC the original Modern Warfare 3 was supposed to be a prequel about Ghost, but Activision told them to finish up the story which is why each game is all kinds of fucked up story wise.

Changed the thread name and sub title to reflect the atmosphere, never thought this thread would take off again after Vanguard.
Always trust in Infinity Ward. Treyarch are washed up and Sledgehammer should go back to support studio.

To explain why I’m suddenly not dreading this game is watch the campaign reveal. The weapon sound alone makes me feel they somewhat CARED about this. Vanguard the guns are peashooters and the animations? Don’t get me started how does the Kar98 look and sound better in MW2019 than in an actual WW2 game on the same engine.
