So I haven’t noticed Phil’s roster go up yet so i am assuming Phil did not get this new Alexa yet but he is whaling out on it at 2am to cope

His score minus mine (minimum you can get plus spending 5 bucks (got Stacy keibler so 🤷)) = 1069000/3000 for each loot coin / 30 loot coins per 100 is

$1187 dollars

If he somehow got the Alexa it’s

$632 dollars

These are minimum totals . This could be way more

That's $1000 less for Kat to eat, he's whaling for her health!

How predatory is this gacha? My buddies play a few dumb anime ones and they complain about genshin impact being the worst gacha, but to get a new character would be like 100-150 dollars if you haven’t been saving the currency and have absolutely awful luck.

What is he actually dropping the money on in this game? Is he whaling this hard for the sake of leaderboard shit?

The games work by finding that 0.1% of whales who will just empty their bank accounts for points/status.

These games are so predatory that the #1 poker game is WSOP, a game where people spend money on fake coins to gamble in a world where they can't even cash out if they win.

They could play real poker and win money, they spend money on fake money to win more fake money.

He is whaling for shitty jpgs of greased up nude dudes and apparently dudettes sometimes although he prefers the men. They can't be sold or transferred and will cease to exist once Scopely rapes the last whale to death and shuts down the servers.

WWE Champions may be the top predatory gacha. Most mobile games nickel and dime you with $5 here, $20 here to progress... Scopely don't fuck around, $199 + Tax to begin being competitive in most weekly events and whatever shit you buy is irrelevant in a week until the next $110.19.

All this for a shitty Candy Crush clone that's worse than any $10 budget title AND you literally don't play this game. At high whale levels, it's one move and win since the power creep has reached silly levels.

It's funny, it's kinda similar to Phil's whales where he relies on a handful that dump insane amounts and the comparably sane rest have slowly abandoned him. Which helps when you get mad at Phil's autism vortex... everyone involved is retarded and pissing away all their money to bankruptcy.

Theres always Diablo Immoral, where apparently "maxing out" a character would cost you roughly $100k. A single character. Just wait to see "TheyCallMeDSP to show up on some lists in that game...

It depends on the mentality of the user I'd say, for examples with Genshin Impact the game doesn't gate any content with P2W since its at heart a RPG its skilled based above all else. The aspect of Genshin that will likely get people is perfectionism and likely showing off, for example having the best damage output, the easiest way to do that is C6 your character (get 7 of them) and get "their" weapon from the banner and refine it. I might add none of this is needed you can grind and get plenty for free, there's endless events and things. I'm a player btw I've never whaled out to get any character, I'm not F2P ether but I barely spend anything and I've been playing since launch which we are getting to 2 years now?

I wanted to mention about the pity system I think all gatcha has (?), Genshin has that, 90 rolls you are guaranteed a 5* thing be it a weapon or character. As far as I know WWE Champs has this too @TJGamebox do you know what the pity rate is?

Anyway from what I can tell with the appeal of WWE Champs is mainly the leaderboard, but getting the higher ranks seems very P2W and lots seems locked out of F2P people from what I read on their subreddit awhile ago. But like most gatcha there is the FOMO aspect of "oh fuck this is my only chance to get this" that alot of people fall into so they whale. Then like Genshin there is ways of refining the character with gems (I think TJ mentioned this) which will cost more.

To summarise basically if you have a problem with addiction, maybe low confidence or some sort of obsession with collecting and perfectionism these are very predatory, but outside of that I think even Champs could be enjoyed to a degree.

I played Champions F2P a few years ago, and there is some stuff you can do. Single player mode is fun for a few hours but you hit a clear wall. I suppose if you join a faction then with low requirements that don't care about leaderboards then you can keep progressing, but there's pressure to spend and it gets obscene quickly.

You get a “mega rare x2” per 30 pulls. No guarantee on the top people, and they are full of shards in mega rare also!

The same thing happened to the Supercard game. It was admittedly pretty enjoyable for a while. (The NBA version was my go to for sitting on the toilet at work…no shame) Then they added a ton of events and added factions. Everything became a micro transaction, and it just became tedious to try to keep up with everything if you weren’t willing to spend a substantial amount of money on it.

Thanks for this detective work. I asked Phil in chat (first time I've ever been in his chat) if he was going to tell his audience about the $900+ he spent on mobile games this weekend. He went on a 5 minute rant and almost started crying. Saying I'm a liar and he's sick of people saying he spends all his money on this game.

Was clearly trying to make the dents feel bad for him. What a joke he is. I can't imagine being such a giant POS that you have to beg and lie for to feed an addiction that isn't even hard drugs or something.

But, yeah thanks for keeping track. I probably got more of an emotional reaction in the 30 seconds it took me to type than his whales do after giving them all their money.

How predatory is this gacha?
From seeing the prices and such (appreciate all the follow-ups to this even to this day btw) this has to be in the top 5 predatory gacha's on the market, much more than any of the ones in Japan. Seriously, the money seems to get you very little in this game, everything is insanely overpriced that only idiots like DeeEssPee would fall for. Everything is nickel and diming you, ontop of needing new characters to stay relevant, while most gacha's you can sit on older rare characters for a few months just fine.
