The full judgment from today has already been published:
https://www.judiciary.uk/judgments/barts-health-nhs-trust-v-dance-battersbee/ It makes for unpleasant reading in places, probably the worst line being "Some decaying parts of the brain are seen to have dropped down Archie’s spine and to be sitting in the lumbar region of his spinal cord."
It seems like Hollie will be following in Tom Evans' (Alfie Evans' father) footsteps, appealing every decision multiple times and then desperately finding more things to go to court over to slow things down, while riling up the army outside the hospital and getting lots of media coverage. In this case, she already made complaints that the brain scan was not Archie's and the hospital were neglecting him. In the Alfie Evans case, it ended up with a final emergency judgement stating that the hospital were to remove ventilation by a specified time.
The judge also addressed some of the issues with feeding Archie. It seems that he can tolerate small volumes of feed but when the rate goes up, this leads to large amounts of diarrhoea and fluid loss. The hospital are also having to recalibrate his vasopressin hourly to keep his fluid levels balanced as he keeps producing large volumes of dilute urine.
If his fluid levels are no longer able to be properly controlled, he will undergo sudden cardiac arrest. This is a very possible outcome if the family refuse to accept he is dead and will mean they won't be able to say their final goodbyes to Archie in a calm, dignified and peaceful way like they could if they accept today's ruling.
