I'm pretty neutral about Conner since you cant say what his actual motives are for some things he does. But isn't he qualified to talk about these things since he also had to build his channel over time? I disagree with his belief hololive doesn't factor in talent, but he also built himself up.
I don't see how someone building their own channel makes them qualified to make the claims he did. Most of the Hololive girls were established streamers before HL. The fact that they were skilled enough to get into HL is pretty much what justifies the boost they get.

Otherwise people like Gura on Senzawa, IRyS on Namirin, etc don't really have an all that great incentive to jump ship from their established channels to start over.

Mousey clearly is just averse to topics that can be easily misinterpreted case in point these misinterpretations in this thread
Listen, I understand if you wanna believe Welshman not bad, but that doesn't put him above criticism and criticizing him also isn't criticising Calli either. Don't just go in guns a blazing cause I say something bad about someone known for making an ass out of himself on the regular. I didn't even intend to start the Connorposting, I said maybe one thing about him and it spirals. You really aren't making me like him.

Honestly, the fact that even MOUSE was visibly upset at Connor's implication and gave him several avenues to shut the fuck up and he just kept digging that hole... This is the main thing that made me stop liking him fairly recently.
Seems to be trouble in paradise - Mouse has been short and calling him out on shit she never used to lately. Could just be stress, but it's a lot of things /vt/ has complained about before so they had a bit of a field day. Monke brained takes, ignoring her and dicking around during collabs, being disruptive for stuff like his tts, his obnoxious focus on "content mode" that paradoxically detracts from any content he's involved in, and so on. They were as good as arguing on stream at one point before Mouse realised and clammed up to do the passive-aggressive thing of pretending everything's fine and they're definitely not arguing.

I'm so-so on Connor myself: at his best he has some nice banter and dynamics with Mouse and some other streamers, but at his worst he's a fucking sped. Which would be salvageable but he's also the sort who absolutely refused to accept being wrong or called out, no matter how justified. He'll dig his heels in and beat that horse into glue until everyone involved is too tired to continue arguing, with maybe a quiet apology later if it's bad enough, when really the whole thing ought to have moved on from ages ago. It's unnecessary and takes what should have been quickly glossed over with an apology and forgotten about into sticking points for bad will.

I like Hololive but this is objectively not true for 4 out of 5 Myth members. They had one ace in the hole but the rest of them were nobodies in terms of streaming.

In terms of streaming sure, but HL looks for more than just streaming. Like it's nice, but what they consistently want in their recruitment is consistent content generation. All of Myth fit that bill requirement well. Not to discredit streaming, it's of course something they value.

Capcom indeed should just rename themselves to "The MonHun Company" LLC.
If only you knew how bad things really were. If only someone gave a shit about Monster Hunter before World came out and DmC'd the fuck out of the franchise.
But hey, RE8 in third person might actually get me to play the game, because RE7 put me to sleep, so my brain just associates first person RE with boring games now.

Well, thats why I said "Hololive girls" and not specifically Myth. They may not have been raking in views like they do now, but most of the girls did have streaming experience with a dedicated viewbase, even if it wasn't absurd levels like they get now.

Edit: In any case, my ultimate opinion on Conner is that he is a colossal idiot, but the amount he gets brought up does not really correlate well to how relevant he is to vtubers outside of IronMouse. I'm asuming since Calli's DDK persona is being built up more, it means he will be completely irrelevant to Hololive going forward, since she can just collab with him on that account.

If you want a mousie voiceless summary to get the full story i broke it down in the post link i edited into that post you might come out of it a little softer on mouse if you do because she does ultimately blame herself and management for the whole thing
Edit: ill just link it again i spent long enough on the damn thing might as well milk it https://kiwifarms.net/threads/virtual-youtubers.69525/post-10598701
Just read through it which is handier than having to sit and listen to something for an extra hour for the info so I do appreciate your effort. Unfortunately didn't help me like her more haha

My issue wasn't because of her voice. I'm happy enough to listen to it with an uninteresting voice, hell, I've listened to Kronii streams lol It's more just her points were just getting too much.

It's certain points like her saying how she was sitting in front of the laptop telling herself she needed to be the one to talk to him but how she couldn't because of their fight but only SHE could get through to him...but then being willing to publicly shit on him on Twitter. It's just so... martyr-ish. Too much of it is just moving blame, doing the whole "I'm not even that big" or "I was scared for my life" neither of which I accept.

But yeah, interesting read. I shall now go back to my hags and leave this drama behind me after I seem to have kicked the hornets nest in here.

Enjoy some Gorilla Mio:

There is a difference between being above criticism and being falsely criticized but sure I'll stop and move on

Edit: to be clear im not saying connor is flawless he is a well intentioned idiot I just don't think this particular incident is one of those moments

He is ultimately right on the off chance someone gets into holo despite a lack of talent they will enjoy some sort of success before the inevitable drop off

These girls autism is rubbing off on me. I bought Powerwash simulator and now I want to buy House Flipper.

Clip tax: Moona talking about molesting cosplayers.

Moona is still one of my favorite character arcs.

I just want a fucking Mega Man Battle Network collection. They couldn't even be assed to do that for its 20th anniversary.
Don't remind me, I'm still pissed. They're just gonna excuse it by blaming Covid.

Edit: Scoots, that's not stopping like you said you were.

I don't disagree with that. My response was to "I've watched Hololive build from almost the ground up so forgive me for being annoyed some know nothing, sheltered twat Welshman acts like he knows anything".

I just realized it could be read two different ways. I dont consider him a "know nothing, sheltered twat" simply because he knows how to build a channel/career. Is he ignorant about hololive, yes. Is he ignorant about building an online career, no. He was wrong saying they had no talent, not wrong in saying HL helps get people a bigger audience. Compare indie debut stream size (or the first HL generations) to HL/Niji debuts now.

HL/Niji can get you noticed, but its the streamer/talent that has to retain that attention.

Kiara - Ex-idol, tri-lingual.
Ame - History of streaming.
Gura - Streamer/Vtuber.
Calli - Animator/Rapper.
Ina - Artist, tri-lingual.

They all had some experience/talent and were able to impress whoever interviewed them (Does Yagoo do all interviews?). All they were looking for in talent, is potential.

Does Yagoo do all interviews?
No, you can even prove this by finding the stream where Subaru answers a fan's question asking why Cover hired her. She got in touch with the agent that hired her and got their comment. That said, Yagoo would get final say in hiring someone, sure.

It's clear Connor had no fucking clue what Hololive was like before Covid. Look no further than talents like Aki and Mel and the bullshit they endured. While it's undeniable that the Hololive brand offers an initial bump post 2020. It is entirely up to the streamer to build on that initial bump and survive the shit YT throws their way or else they stagnant.

Anya, Kiara and Sana all come to mind about the Holobump and the different routes they took for their success. Kiara's early aggressive numberfagging stems entirely from YT fucking her over and her early life Idol failures. She didn't want to repeat that and as a result of keeping her nose to the pavement she managed to flout that early setback and kept up with her genmates. After a slow start, Anya has been increasing her numbers after not taking the same aggression Kiara had. As for Sana , she'll will have to decide soon what she wants to do with her Holo career. She has a strong core fanbase now and they aren't going anywhere, but if she wants to grow that she'll need to buckle down and work harder than the rest of Council.

tl:dr Connor's hot take was a filthy casual one and not to be taken too seriously (Impossible challenge)
