She's back to "treating her eating disorder". She LOVES this psychologist, truly truly loves her, and doesn't want to lose her, nor does the psychologist want to lose Amber.

Funny enough, this blog was is about 1 month old and Amber has likely moved out of state by now. So, this is the last we will hear about this psychologist, like every other medical professionals before.

Amber likely was choosing the wrong equipment for her size if she tried both an elliptical and treadmill and they wouldn’t work.

Ar her size, walking should be the only weight bearing exercise she should be doing. Anything else would lead to injuries. Better still, swimming would be the best type of exercise for her. She could always use the one from the complex, but nah, too far.

This to our knowledge, the fifth time she's had cellulitis in less than a year. But it's not because she's filthy you guys! It's because she has athlete's hoof and fungus is the same organism as bacteria.

Having that many episodes of cellulitis would concern any GPs. Instead of trying to find the best psychologist, she should get a GP. The consequences of cellulitis are severe but they do not seem to concern her.

Can somebody enlighten me, how is it that this twat can you just quit and rejoin programs willy nilly? In the UK, for any kind of mental health care (including eating disorders), you are put on a waiting list that can sometimes take longer than a year to get to see someone and if you dare ''quit'' or not show up, you are right back to the bottom of the pile and will need another referral to start the process all over again.

On a side note, I'd love to see her deal with that. Not having the ability to doctor shop and abuse resources.

If you're paying cash you can come and go as you please. They will always take you back for cash. Its not a government program like in the UK. You are put on the waiting list as its a finite resource doled out by the government vs a cash for service business in the US. If she was going to a government provided program in the US, or even some formal actual programs, they would not take her back after quitting.
She's seeing a "Health an any size/LGBTQ therapist" and not in any actual "Program" at any hospital.

If you're paying out-of-pocket -- as Amberlynn probably is -- then who's to stop you? I believe this is true in the UK as well; if you have the money to simply pay for a medical professional's services, then you have as many options as there are professionals available. It's unclear what Al's health insurance arrangements are, but we've never seen any sign that she's actually using either a private health insurance company or a government-subsidized plan, so there's nobody to tell her no. And for a lot of the services she's talking about -- dieticians, counselors, etc. -- insurance often doesn't cover them anyway, so paying out of pocket is very common.

Think of it more in terms of a hair stylist or a personal trainer -- you hire them, you move to someone else, whatever. It's probably about the level of seriousness with which Al approaches all of her health issues, up to and including cancer.

It's pretty easy once you understand our health care model. To sum it up, care = money. If you have the cash or have health insurance to cover the majority (and can of course pay your portion at time of "service") care is generally readily available. We have plenty of providers if you live in a decent sized area. For my health plan I can use their provider/doctor list and find somewhere around 500 mental health providers who have agreed to the cost that my health insurance have set. Some of them will be specialists like addiction or adolescents. Amber isn't in a big eating disorder program - just a group of providers who claims to treat or specialize in a couple of areas. If she was going to a legit outpatient program she would likely have had a small waiting period for an open spot. Generally speaking though you can get the care you need here almost immediately as long as "you" can pay. There can be some exceptions, buy even for surgeries/procedures don't have a long wait (and if you do it's just because the provider is busy.) Maybe a month? A lot of the times the wait is just getting your insurance to "approve" said treatment for payment.

Many gym items can actually handle over their weight limit but she would be better off starting off with something like a Nustep (recumbent elliptical), recumbent bike, or weight machines. Recumbent machines would be easier on the joints and tend to handle limits over the technical weight limit better.
