Great artist/songwriter but her first streams were pretty dogshit.

I think what set a lot of people off is the implication of Conner's statement that these kind of people are already in HL, and nobody wants to believe their oshi is one of them. And I would say none of them are, especially now as of late when his statement might be considered more true than back in the early days. Pretty much all of them came in with some kind of unique talents and background, even if streaming may not have been the primary one.

Yup. I've been in Japanese pop culture communities when I lived there and can say that it's not quite as hush hush and conservative as people may suggest. You won't see Pride parades rolling down the streets of Shinjuku, but you can guess with reasonable certainty that groups who cosplay together probably aren't straight.
