What is the best spice?

Depends on what you're cooking, but I put red pepper flakes and course ground black pepper on most dishes.

Garlic. If someone doesn't like garlic they probably aren't a good person morally or spiritually.

Turmeric hands down
Turmeric is also well known as a strong anti-inflammatory and antioxidant, so the ability to achieve agelessness is a definite bonus. Idk if I'd want to live forever if there was no garlic though.

Boring answer, but salt. It's not enough on its own, but I can't think of any other spice that is more essential than salt. If a recipe calls for salt and you don't add it, the difference is very noticeable. And imagine not being able to add a pinch of salt to your baked potato or steak. There's a reason wars were fought over it..
 
I'm not gonna look it up but I don't think garlic should count. I wouldn't eat a whole bowl of salt
