Atlanta, Baltimore, Buffalo, Cincinnati; Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles, Milwaukee; New York City, Philadelphia, Richmond, Seattle; Washington D.C. These are the places with some of the worst murder rates in the US, and "pettier" crimes related to property or assault make things even worse for them. All of these are in blue states (though Virginia is a bit of a toss-up, I'll admit).

Though it is true that some of the most dangerous places to be in the US are in red states (Baton Rouge, Birmingham, Cleveland, Columbia; Kansas City, Little Rock, Miami, St. Louis; Memphis, New Orleans), get this: The vast majority of them vote for and are ran by Ds. The only rathole that isn't blue-ran is Miami and Columbia in South Carolina.
I doubt Newsom mentions this in his post, though.

The country's most dangerous cities have a lot of blacks in them. Liberals seem to have no idea where black people actually live.

And they FUCKED UP THE TIMING, because it happened before Trump even gave his speech.

A theory I heard that makes some sense is that the Dems were planning some kind of major false-flag incident on 1/6 where a few heavily-armed patsies would enter the building and inflict mass casualties, kind of like a sequel to the Las Vegas shooting. It went wrong when the Capitol police opened the gates and let anyone in who wanted in. They were supposed to let just the designated patsies through but there was some kind of miscommunication (or sabotage?) and they threw open the doors for everybody.

As a result, there were hundreds of people milling around recording and streaming stuff on their phones. Livestreamers and false flag attacks are a bad combination. They couldn't safely pull off the gory spectacle they were hoping for unless they were guaranteed 100% narrative control, so they fell back on a plan B and decided to run with a party line that petty vandalism and discarded water bottles are worse than 9/11.

As others have pointed out, reopening the pipeline won't fix the problem, not immediately. Hell, even reversing the drilling restrictions they imposed won't fix the problem, not for a while at least.

All their thinking is remarkably short-term on this stuff. So if they tank Biden, what then? He's allegedly the most popular President ever. Are they going to have an even more popular President next time? Will it be someone who couldn't beat Biden in his own primary? If the idea is to make Biden the scapegoat, it's a dumb idea because too many people are aware that the scapegoat was installed. And those people are still in power.

IF you want to be generous, you can make the case that certain people in the Democrats are thinking long term and how they are fucked and that with the incoming red wave and Trump back in power, the Democrats need to start cutting their losses and rebuild with an eye towards 2028 and beyond and purging the anti-life from their rank and files.

That means taking a lot of pain in the short term, shedding blood for the purpose of sating the masses you've been pissing off since Obama took office who want retribution and payback so they'll get their pound of flesh and go back to sleep knowing vengeance was had at last. Hence sacrificing Biden via removing him, while letting Kamala know unless she is the perfect non-threatening placeholder/lame duck President for the rest of Biden's term, video of her getting fucked in the ass by high ranking Democrats in California will leak and the Democrats will hang her out to dry by way of claiming "we had no idea Kamala was a filthy whore who fucked her way to the top!". Then run Bernie Sanders purely to get slaughtered by Trump while negotiating their damnest with McConnell behind the scenes hoping sacrificing Biden, castrating Kamala, and running a fuck up like Bernie that has zero chance of winning will make Cocaine Mitch and Trump happy enough that they won't seek revenge once they take power.

Because at this point, the Democrats need to be focusing on how not to lose instead of winning. And if it means telling whores their abortion on demand rights are no more and forcing the left to suffer the likes of which they've never suffered in a generation or two (not since Bush II got his across the board stat boost to near God mode levels after 911 and used them to start not-World War 3) and scorch earthing Biden's place in history? So be it.
